The Lego Movie Videogame
It’s certainly not as ‘awesome’ as its movie counterpart but there’s some genuine fun to be had with this

About
In The LEGO Movie Videogame, players enter the world of Emmet, an ordinary guy mistaken for a hero. Guiding Emmet and his fellowship, players construct, battle, and solve puzzles to save the world from evil. With its humor, epic quest, and classic LEGO building experience, this game brings the thrill of the LEGO Movie to life.

story
446 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe story of the game closely follows the plot of "The Lego Movie," incorporating cutscenes from the film, which many players found engaging and humorous. However, some reviewers noted that important moments were cut, leading to a less cohesive narrative, particularly in free play mode, and criticized the overall execution as feeling rushed or lacking depth. While the story is enjoyable for fans of the movie, it may feel predictable and less impactful for those unfamiliar with the source material.
“It's a great but cliche story, with a twist that not only makes the cliches make sense but contains a moral that can relate to almost anyone.”
“This has to be one of my favorite games of all time because it adds so much more to the story of the Lego movie and feels a whole lot more fleshed out.”
“The story mode was great and addicting to keep playing, as fun as I remember as a kid.”
“However, due to being a game, some important moments had been cut, even to the detriment to the story.”
“The use of cutscenes and clips from the actual film, in-sliced with some alterations is a nice touch at first, and while I’m okay with cutting corners in these types of games, you can tell by the third act, the developers either stopped caring to tie the narrative together, or they ran out of time, and the story simply just ends, on a whimper.”
“The campaign is average and sometimes problematic, with a disordered feeling present; there are also plenty of counterintuitive puzzles and confused mission progression.”
The LEGO Movie Videogame review
Neither a good LEGO game nor tribute to the movieat best, The LEGO Movie Videogame is enough fun to be called a functioning promotional product.
50%I know the pieces fit - The LEGO Movie Videogame
Sadly, LEGO The Movie Videogame fails to live up to the expectations set by both it’s source material and its video gaming forebears. A few inspired moments of gameplay give way to a bland and tired retread, while lacking any real substance to provide reason to revisit. Long loading times, last-gen caliber graphics and moments where bugs stop gameplay underline the lack of attention. At a sticker price of $60 I recommend you buy a movie ticket instead, and spend the rest on a LEGO set or two. At least if you tire of those, you can build something new and entirely different.
