The graphics of the game have received mixed reviews, with some praising their nostalgic charm reminiscent of the PS2 era, while others criticize them as sub-par for a modern HD title. Notably, the prologue for Tekken Tag 2 is highlighted for its impressive visuals, but overall, opinions vary on the quality and importance of graphics in the gameplay experience.
“The prologue for Tekken Tag 2 is spectacular, featuring four fighters and glorious graphics, and will leave you salivating for the full game to be released.”
“The version of Tekken Tag with updated 1080p graphics is worth $10 by itself.”
“Great graphics though!!”
“The graphics are from the PS2 era, so don't expect fancy graphics, although they were really good at the time in 2000 for the PS2.”
“The graphics, even for an HD game, were very sub-par, and in general, the motion and everything were not at all to my liking, and I like almost every game.”
“The movie sucks, the Tekken Tag HD sucks, nothing special, just play your old Tekken Tag with a little graphic tweak.”

The story aspect of the Tekken film and game is generally viewed as weak and lacking depth, with many reviewers noting that it fails to deliver a compelling plot or character development, despite some visually impressive action sequences. Fans acknowledge the franchise's history of cheesy narratives and express mixed feelings about the focus on secondary characters, ultimately suggesting that while the visuals and fights are enjoyable, the storyline is not a strong point. Overall, the consensus is that the story is a secondary concern for fans primarily interested in the action.
“Regardless, if you're a serious fan of the story in Tekken, you'll probably want to watch the movie at least once.”
“This project is the greatest thing story-wise in the Tekken project, but even fans feel the need to complain about how it's not as thrilling as your average theater movie.”
“Even in the interviews within the disc, the scriptwriter pointed out that movies based on fighting games tend to fail since it's hard to make good storylines out of them.”
“There's already enough DNA alteration, research, and whatnot going on within the Tekken universe, and the last thing we need is a secondary character getting experimented on, having a death wish, and being a plot device just to lure the three main Mishimas together.”
“The movie was visually impressive but had a very weak and rather jarring story, and I couldn't understand why it focused around Ling Xiaoyu and Alisa.”
“I really don't understand what is going on, but I guess what do you expect from a story like Tekken.”
