Super Dungeon Bros
- October 31, 2016
- React Games
A mildly fun multiplayer experience at best, and a flawed, derivative dungeon crawler at worst. Good for some fun with friends in short bursts, but has a knack for growing old rather quickly, especially when venturing out solo.
In "Super Dungeon Bros," play as metal-headed heroes Axl, Lars, Freddie, and Ozzie in this fast-paced dungeon brawler. Raids are more fun with friends, so team up in couch or online co-op to overcome tricky traps, defeat hordes of enemies, and uncover legendary loot. Fight strategically with tag team tactics and test your skills in daily and weekly dungeons for added challenges.

Gameplay experiences vary widely among users, with some finding it dull and repetitive, particularly in single-player mode, while others appreciate its addictive nature and rewarding challenges, especially in co-op play. The mechanics can feel clunky, and the initial ease may be misleading, leading to a steep difficulty curve. Overall, while the game has potential and is visually appealing, many feel it requires improvements to fully realize its gameplay promise.
“The graphics look really illustrative, the gameplay is addictive and the challenge, while sometimes very difficult, can be very rewarding once you've done it all.”
“Super Dungeon Bros is a rock-themed dungeon crawler and it provides a mix of brilliant humor and addictive gameplay.”
“It saddens me to see so much potential being wasted in such a beautifully polished and designed game; the gameplay itself is amazing, fun, and increasingly difficult.”
“The gameplay with the 2h sword wasn't super interesting; it was basically light swing, then roll and repeat, or get hit if you tried to do anything else, so that's pretty meh.”
“The gameplay is fairly dull, and the inability to find players for co-op makes this game a dud.”
“- Despite the twin-stick shooter-style controls and mechanics, strafing (moving in one direction while aiming and attacking in another direction) is significantly slower than normal non-strafing movement.”

The reviews highlight a significant lack of story in the game, with some players expressing disappointment over the absence of a narrative or driving goal, which detracts from their overall enjoyment. While one user suggests that a humorous, nonsensical story could enhance the experience, the general consensus leans towards a negative view due to the minimal storytelling elements present.
“The moral of the story is that you never know what life has in store for you. If I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today.”
“If you enjoy fighting games with no story, then this is the game for you.”
“The lack of a driving story made me less inclined to continue.”
“- There is no story, no reason, no goal explained.”

The humor in the game is highlighted by its hilarious voiceovers and amusing mechanics, particularly when playing with friends, such as throwing them off platforms. While some players feel the game lacks depth and a coherent story, they still appreciate the potential for humor, suggesting that a silly, nonsensical narrative could enhance the experience. Overall, the comedic elements are a strong point, making the game enjoyable despite its shortcomings.

The game offers a challenging experience that can lead to significant replay value, particularly for players who enjoy mastering its mechanics. However, many users feel it lacks essential elements like a compelling story, diverse items, and customization options, which detracts from its overall replayability potential.
“With a controller, the gameplay is easy to start but difficult to master, leading to endless hours of enjoyment and excellent replay value once the final end is reached.”
“This game has a lot of potential for replayability, especially if it incorporates more items, inventory, rarities, and customization options.”
“As I write this review, I would have to say it is mostly negative. I honestly believe this game can be something great, but it has a lot of things it needs to be a dungeon crawler. It lacks items, inventory, rarities, and reasons to make it replayable and customizable. It also needs a story, preferably a really silly one that makes no real sense as to why it matters.”
“The game feels like a one-time experience with little incentive to return. Once you've completed the main objectives, there's not much left to explore or discover.”
“I found the gameplay repetitive and lacking in variety. After a few runs, it became clear that there wasn't enough content to keep me engaged for a second playthrough.”

Super Dungeon Bros Review
Super Dungeon Bros is a dungeon-crawling brawler that claims rock influences.
40%Super Dungeon Bros Review
A halfheartedly executed game that tries little and accomplishes less.
35%Super Dungeon Bros Review – Not so ‘Super’ after All
React Games may have had good intentions with Super Dungeon Bros, but it's miles off competing with the likes of Gauntlet or even older games like Castle Crashers. The game lacks originality, starving players of any truly enjoyable gameplay and its half-hearted attempt at embracing a rock theme doesn’t amount to anything particularly unique or cool. Despite trying to keep things fresh by running daily and weekly challenges, it still doesn’t offer anything that really draws players back in the long run. It’s disappointing to see a game that had so much potential to add something new to the genre, fall short in so many ways. However, the most disappointing aspect of the game is its performance. With frequent crashes and poor frame rate when large numbers of enemies appear on-screen, Super Dungeon Bros is a title that I would advise people to avoid.
