Perhaps it’s not the most exciting or enjoyable of games, but I’m sure Solo will find a core audience which will appreciate it for what it does best.

gameplay
28 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe gameplay of *Solo* is a mixed bag; while the core puzzle mechanics can be engaging and challenging, they are often marred by repetitiveness, glitches, and a lack of depth. Players appreciate the game's aesthetic and overarching story, but many find the gameplay to be tedious and hindered by technical issues, leading to a frustrating experience overall. Despite its potential, the execution leaves much to be desired, with some reviewers noting that the puzzles feel artificially extended and reminiscent of children's games.
“The core gameplay loop of 'solo', which sees you progress through 3 archipelagos littered with box puzzles, is great and challenging fun, especially the latter puzzles that really require you to use your noggin.”
“All in all, I found the game to be a very compelling experience on a personal level, but it also offers a solid execution on the puzzle gameplay.”
“I liked the overarching story as well as the interesting mechanics they used for the puzzles.”
“Solo is a fairly pretentious third-person puzzle platformer that is visually quite lovely, but let down by fairly lackluster gameplay, tragically lame writing, and an absolutely brutal bug that will make you lose inventory items if you save the game and then come back to it later, forcing you to do the whole game in one go.”
“Has a cute aesthetic, but the gameplay is severely lacking.”
“The art direction and music is kind of nice; however, the gameplay is too boring, the controls too rigid, and the content too agenda-pushing for me to want to continue playing.”

Overall, Solo is beautiful and it is worth spending the time to explore the compelling world crafted by Team Gotham. The visuals and music alone are worth the price of admission. The game’s missteps are a bit of a nuisance, but they are forgivable when considering the entire package.
