Rugby League Live 3 contains a multitude of impressive features that you'd usually really only expect from the 2ks and EAs of this world and that's to the developer's credit. Extremely detailed off the pitch and generally fun on it, the game is it's only let down by a number of areas where the polish hasn't been applied as well as it could have been. Sadly, those issues do start to mount up with extended play but was it not for the player selection issue, it would have scored an extra point here for sure.
Rugby League Live 3 is a sports simulation game that offers a realistic rugby league experience. It features enhanced graphics, career mode, and improved gameplay mechanics, allowing players to build and manage their own rugby team, compete in domestic and international competitions, and perform various moves and tactics. The game also includes a wide range of licensed teams and stadiums for an authentic rugby league experience.

The gameplay of the game is a mixed bag, with some players praising its smoothness, realism, and charm, while others criticize its mechanics, particularly the tackling system, which can feel frustrating and overly simplistic. Despite some flaws, many find the gameplay enjoyable and addictive, with improvements noted over previous iterations and a strong replay value. Overall, while there are areas for enhancement, the game is considered one of the best in its genre, particularly for rugby league enthusiasts.
“Its got a charm that keeps me playing with solid gameplay and a great replay system.”
“Great simulation, smooth and dynamic gameplay.”
“The gameplay is extremely smooth and responsive, and it runs perfectly on my fairly moderate system.”
“And unless you hit a button, the tackle will be made 100% of the time regardless of which direction the defender was facing before the jump to light speed, or what lines your attacker is running, or the size of the attacker vs defender, the player's tackling stat, etc. None of that will matter unless you make a move to avoid it, which is just very poor mechanics.”
“However, the gameplay in matches is not all that great, bordering on awful.”
“The gameplay is tough and whilst there are drills which help improve the basics, you'll have to figure out the rules and tactics of the game as you go along.”
