The gameplay has received mixed reviews, with some players appreciating the fast-paced and realistic mechanics, while others criticize the controls as unpredictable and the overall experience as repetitive and lacking depth. Many users noted the absence of tutorials, making it difficult to grasp the game’s mechanics, and reported issues with lag and camera angles. Despite these drawbacks, some found enjoyment in the customization options and the overall fun factor of the game.
“For a crowdfunded effort, I was super impressed with the gameplay and ease of learning to play.”
“The gameplay is realistic, a fast sport with a very important passing play; the movement on the field around the goalkeeper is very important.”
“Smooth controls (although it takes a bit to get used to), great fast gameplay, and not a groundball simulator.”
“The controls are so unpredictable; the defense mechanics can work, but mostly just get you mad.”
“The gameplay is very repetitive, especially in college games.”
“The gameplay was choppy and lagged every time there was a possession change, regardless of what I did to adjust the settings. Even during momentary times of somewhat smooth play, the game still lacked any sort of feel of more than something that belongs as a cellphone game or freeware.”

The graphics of the game are generally praised for their impressive detail and realism, especially considering its indie status and low budget. However, players note that it is resource-intensive, requiring a powerful PC to run optimally, and some experience glitches and framerate issues even on lower settings. Overall, while the visuals are a standout feature, they come with performance challenges that may detract from the experience for some users.
“Unbelievably detailed graphics that capture the entire experience.”
“The players, field, and stadium are all decked out in lush current-gen graphical goodness.”
“For an indie game, it has the visual look and feel of a big studio product, making it a milestone achievement for a crowd-funded game.”
“Graphics are decent for 2016, but the game is greedy, so if you have a PC from 2015, turn down the settings to avoid lag.”
“As much as I love lacrosse, this game doesn't live up to the hype, and can't even run correctly even on the lowest graphics. I at least wanted to run with no lag upon the FPS, but couldn't even achieve that dream :(”
“However, I find that the controls are a bit stiff and delayed, and the graphics can be buggy with framerate issues during gameplay.”

Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 Review
Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 won't be a game for everybody. Of course it won't. But as well as giving fans of the sport a good deal of fun, it might convert a few non-lacrosse fans who are looking for a change from the usual multi-million dollar soccer/hockey/gridiron/basketball titles that are sent out onto the playing surface every year, as well. As an almost full-price title, things had to be pretty much on point here and though it isn't perfect, the development team have done well to provide a game that does the sport proud.
