The game's story is characterized by a cheesy yet engaging plot that unfolds across 30 unique missions divided between two factions, each with distinct play styles and objectives. Players must strategize to overcome various challenges, as many missions involve more than just defeating enemies, often requiring creative problem-solving and resource management. Overall, the narrative complements the gameplay, making each mission feel like a rewarding puzzle to solve.
“Many of the missions do not have a simple 'kill the enemy' objective, and if they do it will be behind a unique circumstance.”
“Every one of the 31 missions of the solo campaign is kind of a puzzle on its own; figuring out a working strategy may take some time, but is all the more rewarding after all!”
“The plot is cheesy but fresh.”

“It's in stark contrast to the ludicrous plot, like how Red Alert's plot was so juxtaposed to Hell March.”

The gameplay features unique robot-building mechanics and engaging puzzle-like stages where players must strategically manage limited resources to defeat enemy bases, often facing multiple opponents. The inclusion of alien boosters adds an exciting twist, enhancing robot capabilities and creating memorable missions. Overall, the combination of critical planning, colorful graphics, and addictive battles makes it a standout experience worth playing.
“Unique robot building mechanics, outstanding level design, definitely worth playing.”
“As for the gameplay, the best way to describe it is that every stage is a puzzle. You are given very limited credits to produce robots, and if they get destroyed, you get a full refund back to your base (as long as you still have it). Every mission's goal is to destroy the enemy's base, which has three energy levels, and sometimes you are even pitted against two enemy players. Critical planning and choosing the proper stasis, boosters, and robots is the key to victory for every stage.”
“Some of the missions are really great and fun, as they introduce another element to the gameplay: three types of alien boosters randomly placed in some stages. These include the alien weapon booster, alien speed booster, and alien defense booster, which completely overhaul your robot and give it godly capabilities. For example, the alien speed booster makes your robot run at light speed, leaving after-images. This leads to some of my favorite missions, like one where you only produce one robot and have to defeat a whole army and a base with just that single robot, but there’s a twist: in that stage, there are also three alien boosters you can acquire, making you basically unstoppable.”
“The gameplay is like a mix between puzzle and some old antiquated kind of RTS.”
“Some of the missions are really great and fun, but the gameplay can feel unbalanced. The alien boosters can completely overhauls your robot, making it feel like a different game altogether.”
“While there are interesting elements like alien boosters, the overall gameplay lacks depth and can become repetitive.”

The graphics of this game, while impressive for its time in the 90s, have not aged well, leading to issues such as color inversion and resolution problems when alt-tabbing. Nostalgic players may appreciate the colorful textures reminiscent of classic titles, but many find the dated visuals a significant drawback. Overall, the graphics evoke fond memories but can detract from the gameplay experience for modern audiences.
“The textures were very good for its time; if you get nostalgic over those old Doom graphics, there might be something for you here.”
“With its engaging gameplay, colourful graphics, and addictive robot battles, this game never fails to bring back nostalgic memories.”
“It is such an old game and the only reason I bought it was because of nostalgia. I'm saying that because you can't even alt+tab from this game without ruining the whole graphics/interface; it ruins the color, resolution, and the game colors get inverted or whatnot, and then it can't be fixed unless you restart the game.”
“Final verdict: I can see that the game hasn't aged well because of the graphics (well, the game did come out in the 90s) and how difficult each stage is. But once you figure out the right strategy, and believe me, there are at least 10 different ways to complete a mission, a mission can take as long as 1 hour or the same mission with the right units and chassis can take just less than 10 minutes, which is where all the fun lies in.”
“Of course, if you can get past the dated graphics.”

The music in the game receives mixed reviews; some players praise the soundtrack for its atmospheric and inspirational qualities, while others criticize it for lacking a cohesive score, instead featuring unsettling ambient sounds and minimal techno elements. There are complaints about the absence of a proper soundtrack, with some suggesting that accessing the music requires a specific disk copy, which they view as misleading. Overall, the music's effectiveness seems to depend on individual preferences for atmosphere versus traditional soundtracks.
“The soundtrack is perhaps what stands out the most to me; it fits the atmosphere of the game well and is well ahead of its time, inspirational even.”
“I'm not even sure I'd say this game has a soundtrack. Yeah, there's some techno in there, but for the most part, the music consists of these disturbing noises: a metal door slamming shut in the distance, some alien skittering sound, and a lot of deep space noises and humming in an otherwise eerie silence.”

“You can get the audio back (I'm told) if you put in a disc copy of the game that has the music on it, but honestly, this is fraudulent business.”
