About
"Primal Fears" is a horror shooter game that can be played in single-player, multi-player, or co-op mode with up to four players. Players battle through levels filled with mutated populations while uncovering the truth behind a world-altering chemical called pharGONe. The game offers a variety of weapons, upgrades, and features like RC-cars and drones to aid in the fight against mysterious and terrifying foes.

- Fun and entertaining when played in co-op with friends, providing a good variety of weapons and enemies.
- Decent graphics and atmosphere, with a simple yet engaging gameplay loop that can be enjoyable for casual play.
- Improved over its predecessor, Dead Horde, with better level design and more diverse enemy encounters.
- Repetitive gameplay with a lack of meaningful progression or campaign, making single-player experience dull and unengaging.
- Numerous technical issues, including poor hit detection, collision problems, and frustrating camera controls.
- Limited enemy variety and underwhelming weapon effectiveness, leading to a feeling of monotony throughout the game.
story
30 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe game's story is largely criticized for being minimal and poorly integrated, primarily conveyed through newspapers that lack depth and coherence. Players find the narrative, which revolves around a pesticide-induced insect infestation, to be forgettable and unengaging, with no overarching campaign tying the missions together. While the gameplay is enjoyable, the absence of a compelling story detracts from the overall experience.
“The story consists of insect numbers growing out of control due to global warming, a pesticide is used which makes things worse in more ways than one.”
“The story is basically some pesticide designed to take care of a bug infestation has caused humanity to mutate into misshapen bloodthirsty monsters (doesn't it always?) and you're trying to survive in the ruins of what's left.”
“Very good game with an odd story, it's similar to how to survive with a bit of Dead Space.”
“Doesn't seem to have any real story to it; seems more like a weak attempt at a kind of survival sandbox but with not really all that much to do in it.”
“The story on the other hand is downright thin and unessential, simply unfolded through identical looking newspapers that not only feel amateurish, but also suffers from a number of misspellings.”
“There isn't a story to follow, so if that's what you're looking for, you won't find it here.”
