Character development in the game is praised for its depth and emotional engagement, making player choices feel impactful. However, the character design options are criticized for being generic and poorly executed, with a frustrating character creation process that relies heavily on random generation. Technical issues, including crashes and loading problems, further detract from the overall experience, leading to a recommendation for future improvements before fully engaging with the game.
“Character designs are somewhat generic and cheap-looking.”
“The character creator for Phantom Galaxies is frustrating; you can't pick out details and have to rely on luck with a randomly generated character. I had to refresh nearly 50 times to get a remotely 'good-looking' character design. The regeneration process is tedious, and the ratio of black to white regenerations is basically 99-1. I was 10 regenerations in before I even got an Asian character. The game got stuck on a loading screen, and when I tried to reopen it, it said the session was already running. I wouldn't recommend it until some heavy reworks and patches are made. It's a shame because I was hoping it would be like Gundam Evolution mixed with Starfield space battles, as the trailers imply, but I never even got to actually play the game due to constant crashing. I might give it another chance after a year or until they get their act together.”
“The depth of character development and the intricacies of the plot create an emotional investment in the game, making every decision feel significant.”
