Party Animals is a blast and a half! The music slaps, the animals are adorable, and the maps are magnificent — all of it works to create an addicting game that I want to keep coming back to, especially as more is added.
Party Animals is a local and multi-player kids fighting game featuring delightful game mechanics, exceptional visuals, and a hilarious soundtrack. Create memories with friends by messing with each other in 100 different ways or working together to eliminate others, all while fighting for the cherished gummy bear. Despite being very buggy and having annoyingly frequent ads, the game is highly emotional and provides a unique experience for players.

The monetization model of the game has received mixed reviews, with many players criticizing the presence of microtransactions in a paid title. While some argue that the microtransactions are purely cosmetic and can be earned through gameplay, others feel that the pricing is excessive and the system feels exploitative, likening it to a cash grab. Overall, players express concern over the aggressive monetization practices, particularly in relation to the game's upfront cost and the reliance on in-game purchases for cosmetic items.
“Despite there being microtransactions, I don't see an issue with that being present.”
“The inclusion of a free battle pass system is a nice touch, and despite the presence of microtransactions, I never felt pressured to make any purchases.”
“The microtransactions are cosmetic and they should remain so; some of the better outfits have to be paid with real money, but there are still ways to earn costumes that look great too!”
“It feels like a cash grab more than a fun party experience.”
“The monetization is awful, though, and the game should be free-to-play because of it.”
“A fun game to play, especially with friends, but is extremely aggressive with its monetization, with rampant microtransactions and gacha mechanics.”

The graphics of "Party Animals" have received widespread praise for their vibrant, charming art style and adorable character designs, often compared favorably to the visuals of "Gang Beasts." Many reviewers highlight the game's ability to maintain high-quality graphics even on lower settings, although some users report performance issues on older hardware. Overall, the game's aesthetics contribute significantly to its fun and engaging multiplayer experience, with ratings frequently hovering around 8 to 9 out of 10.
“The graphics are beautiful and the animals with their little outfits are awesome.”
“From its vibrant and charming art style to its dynamic and immersive environments, every aspect of the game is crafted with care and attention to detail.”
“This delightful game provides an inviting atmosphere, rich with vibrant visuals and whimsical characters that captivate the imagination.”
“Stinky always online makes it a useless local co-op game with it looking good but on my old hardware it looks horrendous at the low settings, other party games that are not as demanding are fine on low graphics but this one seems to be that it only looks good if it is medium to high as the minimum.”
“Framerate is so horrible it's almost a slideshow even when your system meets the requirements and the graphics are set to the minimum.”
“Delayed for three years, the graphical quality of the game still sucks, the gameplay remains monotonous, and the condescending attitude of the game developers is sickening.”

The game lacks a significant narrative, with many reviews indicating that it features no real story or depth beyond its chaotic multiplayer gameplay and various missions. While there are some creative mission elements, they are often criticized for being tedious and lacking engaging storytelling. Overall, players seem to find the absence of a compelling story a notable drawback, with many comparing it unfavorably to other games that offer richer narratives.
“The premise is straightforward: players control anthropomorphic animals in a series of wacky challenges and minigames, competing against friends or AI opponents in a quest for victory.”
“With a continued effort to add new minigames and maps, and an anticipated event you can unlock animals and cosmetics with, as well as daily missions, I'm happy to recommend the game again as the amount of fun truly has increased with the amount of content there is now, and I hope in the future as well.”
“They have a 3 level 'story' mission, but it's just run through a map and don't die.”
“The story is cute but forgettable, and the AI opponents can be a bit too easy to defeat.”
“I hoped it would not become the same story, but here we are.”

The music in "Party Animals" is generally praised for its fun, catchy, and upbeat nature, enhancing the game's lively atmosphere and overall enjoyment. While some players find the repetitive menu track annoying, many appreciate the soundtrack's ability to complement the chaotic gameplay and even enjoy listening to it outside the game. However, a few reviews mention that the music can feel generic or overly simplistic, with some players opting to mute it after extended play sessions.
“Everything is superb - gameplay mechanics, visual presentation, and the kickass funk fusion of a soundtrack.”
“The music is very fun; I like to listen to it on my playlist outside of the game too, and I found it really cute that before the game starts, I can already mess around and push/move the letters in the Recreate logo.”
“The soundtrack is a perfect complement to the game's lively atmosphere.”
“The same song in the menus keeps repeating, which made me mute the background music after about 5 games.”
“Literally my only complaint is that the music is like elevator music.”
“Music gets obnoxious after a few minutes, and I can't stand this game for more than one hour.”

The optimization of the game has received mixed reviews, with some players praising its smooth performance and good graphics, particularly on high-end systems, while others report significant issues such as stuttering, input lag, and poor server performance. Many users express frustration over the game's high resource usage, even on capable hardware, and highlight the need for improvements in areas like multi-monitor support and specific maps. Overall, while some players find the game enjoyable and well-optimized, a substantial number of reviews indicate that it suffers from critical performance problems that detract from the experience.
“It's got some lovely optimization, with quite a few things to do across different categories of modes.”
“The game is fun and well-optimized, runs well on a Steam Deck, and 20 and 40 series of RTX cards, making it an overall good experience.”
“No lag, low price, optimized… feels like a finished game and I hope they continue to add content onto it.”
“Many issues which make it so unfun: stuttering, physics, grabbing, and climbing are the main reasons why this makes me sad because I loved Gang Beasts, but this has way too many issues.”
“It's a fun game but is made nearly unplayable by multi-monitor bugs and poor performance.”
“Simply said, the game was a disappointment... no offline mode in a party game, outrageous prices on microtransactions, horrible game performance, and input lag is also super bad, even in the tutorial.”

The game's stability has received mixed reviews, with many players reporting frequent bugs, crashes, and issues with multiplayer functionality, particularly in local co-op and matchmaking. While some users experienced a relatively smooth gameplay experience with minimal glitches, others faced significant problems, including game freezes and crashes that hindered their enjoyment. Overall, the game's stability appears to be a notable concern, impacting the overall experience for a substantial number of players.
“In my experience, the game is relatively bug free.”
“The game isn't laggy, it's not buggy, it's just pure fun with friends. I haven't had this much fun with my friends in ages and I recommend everyone to get it if you have at least 2 other people to play with.”
“The mechanics feel great, and there are almost no glitches.”
“Great game, but crashes randomly for me. I don't know what causes it; I hope it's not my PC, but it freezes the game and crashes it, and also freezes my other apps.”
“For the first 4 hours, I was trying to get the game to work. The game wouldn't load, and when I finally got it to work, it was a buggy mess. The last time I tried playing it, my computer crashed. Long story short, I wasted $20.”
“Matchmaking is buggy right now, and if you don't leave a match after the end and instead instant queue for another one, it often either crashes the game or gets you stuck in an endless loading screen.”

Players overwhelmingly express that grinding in the game is excessively time-consuming, often requiring a significant investment of effort for minimal rewards. While some find the grinding aspect manageable or even enjoyable, many others feel it detracts from the overall experience, likening it to a tedious mobile game with a heavy emphasis on monetization and luck-based mechanics. Overall, the consensus suggests that the grinding can be a major hurdle, making it less appealing for those seeking a more balanced gameplay experience.
“If you don't gamble all your 'nemo bucks' away on eggs to get the skins that will always be available, especially now with the redesigned reward system, the developers give you around 10k of those for free as long as you reach level 100 (a bit of a grind, but not tedious in the slightest).”
“The rewards of the leveling system are pathetic for the amount of grinding you have to do to level, and the experience needed to level up increases each time, resulting in diminishing returns.”
“I think rewards should be more frequent even if smaller because otherwise I feel kind of defeated when I do all that grinding for something I'm never gonna use.”
“Everything just seems so tedious and luck-based to the point where it doesn't feel rewarding at all when you win games; it's almost as if the only way to successfully execute an intended action is to pray to the luck gods that your character decides to align properly to the exact correct molecule.”

Character development in "Party Animals" is characterized by charming and whimsical designs that resonate well with players, showcasing unique personalities and a vibrant aesthetic. However, some users express a desire for more variety in character species and unlockable costumes, as the current offerings feel repetitive. “The colorful and detailed environments, coupled with the charming character designs, create a visually appealing world that is a joy to explore.”

Party Animals Review – The Real Animal House
While we may enjoy a good dosage of serious, emotional, and moving storytelling that more heavy-toned games can give us, sometimes there's nothing better than pivoting to one that can transport you to a colorful and carefree world of hilarious whimsy, and effortlessly deliver a different set of emotions - laughter, levity, and just good ol' fashioned frivolity that just wants to put a smile on your face and let you have fun with your friends. Recreate Games brings a flock of the fluffiest and funniest looking animals to their version of multiplayer whack-a-pal with Party Animals, and after a few matches this one honestly and thankfully feels like the opposite of a friendship-breaker.
80%Party Animals review — A battlefield of fuzzy mayhem
Party Animals presents an overall fun and chaotic experience that will have players laughing with their friends. The characters are cute, the boards are fun and the multiplayer aspect is a plus. However, since the release date, not much has been added which makes the game short-lived with content and can demotivate players to pick this title up again.

Party Animals is simply frustrating to play, and most of the minigames boil down to the same scrappy situations that get old fast.
