Nippon Marathon has the potential to be a fun party game, but its technical and design shortcomings prevent it from being a race worth running.
Nippon Marathon is a good time party game that supports up to four players locally, with wacky multiplayer racing action set across various creative and challenging levels in Japan. Expect to dodge obstacles, throw fruit, and encounter surprising events in this unique and exciting party experience. Solo play is also available, but the game really shines with friends.

Nippon Marathon GBAtemp review
If I had to pick a single word to describe Nippon Marathon, it would be fun. While I struggle to ascertain exactly which part of this beautiful mess calls to me so, I can recommend it for anybody looking for a wild multiplayer experience. Pick up four controllers and get ready for the marathon of your life.

Nippon Marathon is a curious multiplayer game that unfortunately falls prey to its own over the top nature. Some might enjoy the off-piste humour and Japanese influences, but it sadly limits the game's appeal, and at the end of the day, the presentation leaves a lot to be desired. The frantic gameplay feels too clumsy and disjointed to remain fun for very long. The janky nature of the game is part of the joke, but the joke isn't particularly funny in this case, and others have told it much better than this.
