  • story
    50 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story in "Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx" is generally perceived as light and episodic, appealing primarily to fans of the original series, while newcomers may find it simplistic and aimed at a younger audience. Players engage in straightforward missions that involve combat and puzzles, but the narrative feels rushed and lacks depth, with many elements feeling underutilized. Overall, while the game captures some essence of the show, it struggles with pacing and character development, leading to a mixed reception regarding its storytelling quality.

    • “The story, while light and episodic, captures the essence of the Miraculous series well enough.”
    • “On the positive side, the story is great and has the genuine Miraculous feel.”
    • “There are a couple of moments in the story that aren't in the series, as well as a couple of new gameplay elements, such as choosing your answers and meeting up with your friends.”
    • “The story felt rushed and there were some unused elements still in the game.”
    • “This game truly does exist purely to be a licensed Miraculous tie-in game which is also canonical to the story of the show but isn't because it's never mentioned and ultimately doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.”
    • “It's just a shame the characters' voices weren't utilized more widely and the majority of the story is basically relayed through text boxes, which certainly flattens the overall narrative.”
  • graphics
    27 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics of the game have received largely negative feedback, with many reviewers describing them as outdated and reminiscent of early 2000s titles. While some appreciate the bright, cartoonish style suitable for a younger audience, others criticize the poor model quality, slow loading times, and overall lack of polish. Overall, the visuals are seen as a significant drawback, failing to meet modern gaming standards.

    • “Paris is rendered in a bright, stylized art style that closely mirrors the television show.”
    • “The graphics are colourful and simple.”
    • “With colourful graphics, interesting stage design, and the right blend of casual action, this will entertain the youngsters in your house.”
    • “That's how long I lasted with terrible graphics, annoying voices, and awful controls.”
    • “Next time, make it like the Spider-Man games and don't take the graphics from Miraculous's terrible version of Subway Surfers.”
    • “The graphics look like someone did it with an old Unity version, with no love.”
  • gameplay
    22 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay of "Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx" is characterized by its accessible mechanics and charming presentation, effectively capturing the essence of the source material. However, it suffers from shallow combat mechanics, repetitive battles, and technical issues, leading to a lack of depth and excitement. While the game offers a nostalgic experience for fans, many reviewers feel it falls short of expectations, particularly given its price point.

    • “Cutscenes flow naturally into gameplay, and the soundtrack—light, upbeat, and filled with the kind of heroics one expects from a Saturday-morning cartoon—fits the tone well.”
    • “Gameplay is divided into exploration and combat sequences, alternating between the civilian lives of Marinette and Adrien and their superhero alter egos.”
    • “Its strengths lie in its faithfulness to the source material, accessible gameplay, and charming presentation, while its weaknesses stem from shallow mechanics, technical limitations, and lack of depth.”
    • “While it succeeds in capturing the look and feel of its source material, the gameplay and structure struggle to rise above the standards of a typical licensed tie-in.”
    • “The game is way too short for full price and the gameplay is from the 90s.”
    • “Gameplay isn’t all that exciting; battling enemies and bosses gets repetitive really quickly, hits feel like they lack any real impact, upgrades don’t feel like they add much, and the animation quality during gameplay feels unfinished.”
  • music
    15 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music in the game receives mixed reviews; while some players appreciate the upbeat and heroic soundtrack that complements the gameplay, others criticize the lack of music during key moments and the repetitive nature of the audio. Many note that the game features familiar tracks from the series alongside new compositions, but the overall sound design suffers from missing effects and abrupt transitions. Overall, the music is seen as a highlight for some, but its inconsistent presence and quality detract from the experience for others.

    • “Cutscenes flow naturally into gameplay, and the soundtrack—light, upbeat, and filled with the kind of heroics one expects from a Saturday-morning cartoon—fits the tone well.”
    • “The best part of the game was the music.”
    • “What I really liked were the familiar songs from the series, as well as completely new tracks created specifically for the game, such as the soundtrack in the game menu.”
    • “There is basically no music to be found whatsoever (except for some instances and the main menu), and the blank space is occupied by the character you play as exclaiming after having jumped for the umpteenth time.”
    • “The game lacks sound design as a whole, there seems to be so many missing sound effects and the music weirdly cuts off sometimes or resets halfway through a track.”
    • “The background music never changes, making parts of the game feel long and boring.”
  • monetization
    7 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The monetization of the game is widely criticized as a blatant cash grab, primarily targeting fans of the franchise and parents of young children. Reviewers feel that the game lacks genuine effort and creativity, instead prioritizing profit over quality.

    • “A big cash grab, that's all this is.”
    • “Truly, this is just a cash grab for fans of the franchise.”
    • “Heartless cash grab is what this overall feels like.”
  • humor
    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is described as charming and entertaining, particularly in its playful take on familiar story arcs and character interactions, such as Hawkmoth's disstrack. However, some players find the humor inconsistent, with criticisms that the game lacks redeeming qualities and fails to deliver a genuinely funny experience, leaning instead towards being "mindbogglingly bad." Overall, while there are moments of humor that resonate with fans, the game's overall execution leaves much to be desired.

    • “It follows a familiar arc—Hawk Moth unleashes a new supervillain, Ladybug and Cat Noir must team up to stop them, and the balance of Paris is restored—but it’s delivered with enough charm and humor to keep fans entertained.”
    • “Plus, if it's hard for me to beat, don't expect your daughter to keep a stone face when she fights Clonica (the hardest boss in the game, by the way). The worst part is that Adrien's cake never even got a slice... 5/10: Clonica gave me nightmares, but at least it was funny to see Hawk Moth's diss track every time I die.”
  • stability
    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Overall, users report mixed experiences regarding stability, with some encountering significant bugs and glitches, such as character disappearance, while others noted that the game functions without crashing.
