A super frantic Arcade Tower Defense, McDROID starts gently then progressively challenges your trigger finger and your wits (and your sanity) as you multitask like a robotic-spider-doggy-thing: running, shooting, building base, herding, healing, harvesting, repairing, planting, upgrading, researching, frying giant snail-hammer-thing with a giant-tesla-on-your-back (it actually happens).

gameplay
26 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe gameplay has received mixed reviews, with some players finding it unengaging due to a lack of interesting tower options and a frustrating resource collection mechanic. While the game presents a challenging experience with a steep difficulty curve and unique terrain mechanics, it suffers from technical issues and poorly explained mechanics that detract from the overall enjoyment. Despite these flaws, some players appreciate the depth and excitement of the gameplay, suggesting that it has potential if polished further.
“The gameplay is deceptively challenging, with a number of different activities to balance in each level.”
“Fortunately, the gameplay is straightforward enough that you might not need it, though there is more depth than it appears to be at first glance.”
“You won't know what the hell is happening, but the gameplay is fun, exciting, and unique among tower defense games I've played.”
“Weird difficulty curve and poorly explained mechanics make this attempt at a tower defense game unfun.”
“Incredibly laggy (exploding barrels killed my Skylake/1070 system and at one point there was an infinite gem spawn bug that killed the network and soon took down the game). Not that we got much of a chance to see the game mechanics, but there didn't seem to be any room for choice, or at least balancing and scale was neglected.”
“So I paid £13.50 for a few hours of gameplay, some of which were just painful grinding to get diamonds.”

50%McDroid
McDroid gives little clue as to what is going on when you first load it up. The first hour fails to impress and players may wonder if it is worth continuing onwards. After overcoming that hurdle, there was enjoyment to be found in the game. The mixture of resources and weapons can create exciting scenarios as rockets and lasers fly across the screen, but there is still a large element of strategy in what you're doing. The game leans more towards those who are a fan of the genre and others won't feel the need to play past the story, but it still does a serviceable job at trying to cater to a wider audience. The cel shading gives the game a more unique feel alongside the very strange but amusing story and dialogue, but glitches have been found of which people will need to be careful. For its price, McDroid has a decent amount of content and won't set you back much, but if you decide to pass on it, you won't have missed too much.
