About

MazeBot is a speedrun game with action-focused gameplay and vintage CGA graphics, where you control a robot forced to test other deadly inventions in maze-like levels. Using only four colors, you must navigate through the levels, deciding when to fight or run from enemies, with the ultimate goal of survival not being guaranteed. Inspired by DOS games, MazeBot features a 4-color-only palette and a 320x200 pixel resolution, giving it a unique retro visual style.

While some players appreciate the vibrant colors and old-school visuals, others feel the overall presentation lacks a modern "wow factor" and is hindered by locked resolution and controls. Overall, the graphics evoke a sense of nostalgia but may not satisfy those seeking contemporary visual enhancements.

  • gameplay
    7 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay is characterized by engaging arcade combat and maze-solving mechanics that offer a rewarding challenge, particularly for puzzle enthusiasts. Players must master timing and dexterity in combat, reminiscent of games like *Undertale*, where precision is crucial for success. Overall, while the gameplay is enjoyable and features nostalgic visuals, it may lack depth in certain areas.

    • “On the positive side, the maze-solving mechanics are engaging and provide a decent challenge that can be rewarding for puzzle enthusiasts.”
    • “The gameplay follows a system similar to your attacks in Undertale, where you have to properly time your hits. With each pass, the goal to hit gets smaller. If you miss, you get hit; if you hit a specific range, the enemy gets a critical on you. Land on a white area and take advantage, but it's easier said than done.”
