Light Apprentice

It's painfully obvious that the game was initially a mobile game, and the PC port doesn't do much to accommodate for the new platform. The quick-time events that pervade the combat turn the game into a chore, and there isn't really any part that makes the grind worth it.
In "Light Apprentice" , play as Nate, a Light Apprentice, in a comic-gamebook hybrid experience. After 300 years of sleep, Nate must save a war-torn Ethenia and restore its environment with the help of other Apprentices. Your choices and actions significantly impact the story and combat, shaping Nate's journey and consequences in this RPG adventure.

The game's story is generally enjoyable, featuring a mix of lighthearted and darker themes, with moral choices that impact the narrative. While it offers a fun and engaging experience reminiscent of comic book aesthetics, some players find the pacing slow due to combat mechanics. Overall, it is recommended for RPG fans seeking a replayable story with unique artistic flair.
“Recommended for RPG fans that want a fun story that makes you want to come back and replay it.”
“From the cartoony art style of the characters to how the whole story is told using speech bubbles and pop-up text, to how every cutscene and even gameplay sections are transitioned using comic book panels, every detail has been fine-tuned to give off this vibe of colorful comic book goodness.”
“But where Avatar was sort of Disneyfied in its storytelling, Light Apprentice is a little darker, allowing you to choose whether to kill or spare your opponents and even decide on some other moral choices throughout the plot.”
“I bought this thinking that it would be a comic-like adventure game with role-playing elements, where I could make choices that mattered to the story.”
“It may have an okay story, but I don't have the patience to stick with it - the combat mini-game system of fighting just makes the progress way too slow.”
“Story-wise, Light Apprentice is your basic fantasy affair, though with some slight alterations to make things a little more interesting.”

The gameplay is described as fun and addictive, featuring RPG elements with simple controls and a variety of minigame events that enhance skill development. While the combat mechanics are well-executed and progressively complex, some players find the requirement to engage in side activities disrupts the main game flow. The overall presentation, with its cartoonish art style and comic book transitions, adds a unique charm to the experience.
“Gameplay is fun, addictive, and RPG-like. It's simple and only requires the mouse or one controller, with few buttons, a descriptive tutorial, and different minigame events for various skills.”
“The combat mechanics are very well executed, similar to other turn-based games such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Stick of Truth.”
“It starts off simple enough but quickly becomes more complex and difficult as more characters are introduced and new combat mechanics are added.”
“To a lesser annoyance, this mechanic also forces you to exit the main game mode and play what basically amounts to a side activity before you can continue, which breaks the flow of the game somewhat.”
