The music in the game has received overwhelmingly negative feedback, with many reviewers finding it repetitive, dull, and lacking the boldness needed to enhance the gameplay experience. Comparisons to other games, like WarioWare, highlight its failure to create a dynamic and engaging auditory atmosphere, leading to a shallow overall impression. While some players appreciated the catchy tunes and upbeat tempo, the consensus is that the music detracts significantly from the game's potential.
“I wish the music in the diner, in between mini-games, was more intense or grabbing.”
“Love the music and parodies within, and the pricing is just right.”
“I like the art and music and feel they mesh together keeping the game uptempo/upbeat and fast-paced.”
“On top of all of the gameplay issues, the music is so annoying to have to listen to over and over again.”
“It's the same songs on repeat without any diversity really ever.”
“The music is where this game fails completely. Honestly, with good music, this game could've squeezed a positive review from me, but the game's music is far too tame and isn't bold enough for what it aims to be. WarioWare: Smooth Moves is a great game for comparison; go listen to all the minigame jingles and see how it varies from insane guitar riffs to funky future-sounding music. Not only that, but the random sound effects, like the sounds of the timers ticking down, all add to the charming atmosphere those games have. Game Soup does not do that; it's overly quiet and minimal with the music, and frankly, the minigame jingles are laughably dull and boring. So much so that I ended up just slapping the WarioWare OST over it instead because it was genuinely beginning to irk me that much. This game definitely needed to be more confident and heavier with its music; it felt too shallow and as a result, detracted from the game.”

The gameplay features a series of quick, engaging microgames that increase in speed, reminiscent of WarioWare, offering a mix of fun and cheeky imitations of other games. While most mini-games are enjoyable, some fall flat, leading to a mixed experience. Overall, the gameplay is described as addictively fun, though some players may find the duration lacking for the price.
“If you've never played WarioWare...well, you've missed out...but you can experience a similar gameplay style in this little gem.”
“Gameplay is reminiscent of that of games like WarioWare, as you're faced with a rapid gauntlet of timed minigames and only so many chances to fail before losing your streak and starting over.”
“The beautiful art style and musical themes are accompanied by addictively fun gameplay.”
“The gameplay, as just explained, is quick short microgames progressively getting faster through the stage, which are pretty decently fun. Some are cheeky imitations of other games, and none of them are inherently bad, but some are just kind of eh and don't really work well. These include: Space Invaders, Marriage, Failsafe, Undertale Evade, Block, Kung Fu, Helmet Selection, and PVZ Spit.”
“The gameplay mainly consists of 5-second very basic mini games.”
“Well, if 20 minutes of gameplay seems fair to you for the price of a big chocolate bar, sure.”

The graphics in "Game Soup" receive mixed reviews, with some players appreciating the cute art style and humorous presentation reminiscent of titles like WarioWare, while others criticize the anime-styled faces as off-putting and suggest a more pixelated approach would have been better. Additionally, issues with text visibility during gameplay detract from the overall experience, indicating a lack of refinement in the visual presentation. Overall, while the graphics are deemed "alright," they fall short of expectations for a microgame collection.
“Awesome WarioWare-like game collection with a cute art style and humorous presentation.”
“The beautiful art style and musical themes are accompanied by addictively fun gameplay.”
“Pros: funny and smart mini games, great art style, unique styling.”
“The graphics are alright, you can tell what game is supposed to be what, but I felt some of the anime-styled faces look a bit off. I think generally the game should've gone for a more pixel style since all the pixel work they did seemed nice and looked fine. However, the graphics aren't the best. It's also worth noting that the text which displays what to do for each minigame fades out and blocks some of the view. In the Undertale minigame, it can be impossible to see what to dodge, so I have to mark it down here.”
“Overall, a decent try at making a WarioWare-like game, but due to unrefined style and lack of solidarity in what gives those games a sense of style, Game Soup failed to live up to the expectations I had for a microgame-styled game. With a more refined sense of graphics, some characters of its own to add variety on stages, and much better music, I'd be leaving a positive review.”
“Game Soup is one of those games that has the same exact aesthetic as WarioWare or Rhythm Heaven Fever.”

The story aspect of the game is criticized for its lack of depth and coherence, with reviewers noting that it feels more like a collection of game references rather than a cohesive narrative. While the cat theme and reused assets add some charm, there is a desire for a more structured story or thematic separation to enhance the overall experience.
“The cat theme and reused assets give it some charm and personality; however, I think it would have been more valuable for them to separate their games into 2-3 themes, add a couple more to round out the numbers, and create some kind of story like WarioWare.”
“This is WarioWare, but with way more of a focus on referencing other games and lacking a coherent story.”

The game generally runs smoothly on the Steam Deck, providing a solid experience with only minor glitches, such as occasional texture issues. These small problems are overshadowed by the overall enjoyment and humor the game offers.

“The game crashes frequently, making it nearly unplayable at times.”

The atmosphere of the game is significantly hindered by its lackluster music, which is described as overly quiet and dull, failing to create an engaging or dynamic experience. In comparison to more vibrant titles like WarioWare, the minimalistic sound design detracts from the overall charm and excitement, leaving players feeling disappointed and unimmersed.

“The atmosphere feels lifeless and uninspired. There’s a lack of engaging elements that could have made the environment feel more immersive. Instead, it comes off as bland and forgettable, which is disappointing for a game that aims to create a unique experience.”
“I expected a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere, but what I got was a monotonous backdrop that failed to evoke any emotion. The lack of variety in the sound design and visual elements made it hard to stay engaged, leaving me feeling disconnected from the game world.”
