The game's story is generally viewed as generic, revolving around a typical alien invasion narrative, which some players found enjoyable while others criticized it for being repetitive and uninspired. Many reviews highlight the quest structure, often consisting of fetch and escort missions, as tedious and lacking variety, leading to a sense of monotony throughout the gameplay. Despite these criticisms, some players appreciated the story mode's accessibility and the fun of leveling up characters, though bugs and AI issues detracted from the overall experience.
“Good gameplay, and a good story.”
“The story mode and the horde modes are both fantastic.”
“It has great art and models, really good feel and a fun story so far.”
“No interesting mechanics, no catchy story, repetitive environments, sometimes you don't even know where to go.”
“Combined with encounters frequency and enemies respawning every so often and most quests being fetch quests or defend an NPC, it's just boring having to backtrack pretty much 70%+ of the time.”
“Over 5 hours in, my group found a single mission that wasn't some variant of a fetch/escort mission.”

The graphics of the game have received widespread praise for their vibrant art style, smooth animations, and impressive lighting effects, making it visually appealing even for a low-budget title. Many players appreciate the unique aesthetic, which combines colorful designs with a fun, arcade-like atmosphere, although some may find the neon elements polarizing. Overall, the visuals are considered a standout feature, enhancing the gameplay experience despite some criticisms regarding repetitiveness.

“Some will hate the neon aesthetic, and the character customization was pretty thin, but it was fun enough to play through with friends.”
“Actually, for 3 bucks it's the best $3 game I ever played... bit repetitive and friendly AI is as useful as a box of hot steamy pile of donkey poo, but gameplay, visuals and music are a chef's kiss... story is generic: aliens attack, humans defend... this is a bird's eye view shooter, and most games similar to this one have so much going on: flashy lights everywhere, can't tell what's going on in the game because of all the explosions and too many enemies, but not from space... this is a nice, fun little game...”
