Plenty is thrown at the wall, and just enough of it sticks, but it's hard to get over the idea of plucking monsters out of the ground.
"Farmagia is a single-player Role Playing Game with a good storyline, where players command a monster horde in battle to fight against the despotic overlord Glaza, who has seized power after the death of Felicidad’s ruler. Explore treacherous lands, collect resources, upgrade skills, and develop monster traits to take down Glaza and the Oración Seis. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Toytan Skin: Jolly Snowtan Set."

The reviews highlight that the game features significant grinding, which can be enjoyable for players who appreciate leveling up and creature collection, but may feel excessive and tedious for others. While some players find the blend of farming and monster battling appealing, others criticize the lack of depth in both the farming mechanics and the overall gameplay design. The mixed reception suggests that the grinding aspect is a double-edged sword, catering to specific player preferences while potentially alienating those seeking a more streamlined experience.
“First thing is first, this game is very grindy; from the very early stages of the game, this became apparent.”
“The camera is horrid, the farming isn't, the combat is awkward due to the bad camera and block-centric mechanics forcing you to resend your army out to fight things after every block. The story is godawfully boring and one-note as well as predictable, the characters are barely developed when they're not just stereotypes, and the creature collection is lacking due to a lack of different varieties. The challenge only comes from bad design, and it's like combat Pikmin with no real entertaining mechanics...there's just nothing to recommend this for.”
“The farming system is very basic and it's much more about knowing what to drop to get the resources from the research notes than about farming itself, but it's not a problem.”

The story in this game is generally criticized for being clichéd, predictable, and lacking depth, often feeling more suited for a younger audience. While some players appreciate the unique world and art style, many find the narrative boring and the characters stereotypical, with limited character development. Overall, the storytelling is seen as a significant factor in the game's appeal, with mixed opinions on its execution and engagement.
“This game is fun if you like a lot of story and some grinding to collect all the monsters.”
“Things I like about it are the story for the most part is good, I like the unique world and the art is nice too.”
“You start off with a small piece of land to grow your buddies and when you leave your farm, a selection menu pops up to go to the dungeon (maze), the tavern, the shop, etc. It is a lot like a visual novel except everything involving the main story is voiced, which I like a lot.”
“The story is godawful boring and one-note as well as predictable, the characters are barely baked when they're not just stereotypes.”
“The story feels like it’s written for 10-year-olds, with characters reduced to absolute clichés.”
“The other locations to visit, from as far as I've played, are nothing but set pieces for more of the visual novel story, honestly not worth the price.”

The gameplay is characterized by a charming art style and a fun loop, but it suffers from a lack of depth and significant design flaws, including a poor camera and awkward combat mechanics that rely heavily on blocking and parrying. While some players appreciate the simplicity and enjoy the farming aspects, many criticize the linearity, repetitive grinding, and underwhelming creature collection, leading to an overall mixed reception. Despite its shortcomings, those who resonate with the gameplay style may find enjoyment, particularly if they are drawn to the visual aesthetics.
“The combat isn't too difficult as long as you guard when necessary and use the other mechanics to your advantage.”
“I like the gameplay loop.”
“I'll admit it feels a little like a phone game, but I enjoy the simple mechanics; some games these days are overcomplicated for no reason.”

“Horrible looking creatures, terrible graphics, terrible gameplay.”
“Things I didn't like especially about it are things like forcing you to parry, which is not fun. I find parrying to be usually the hardest or most ignored mechanic in most games, at least for me. Having to rely on it instead of a dodge is kind of sad. The game doesn't have exploration and is a bit too linear so far, but I'm hoping for it to free up soon.”

Farmagia Review
Farmagia offers a fun and solid experience for fans of the fantasy genre. With great art and entertaining dialogue, this game is the perfect fit for those longing for a magical adventure. Although it is not necessarily a great farming game, it works well as a bridge for players who might want to try a more action-oriented adventure. On the other hand, seasoned players of action RPG games might feel frustrated because of how simple combat is. Still, we believe the game's positive aspects make Farmagia a great example that, when done correctly, even the simple feels fantastic.

Farmagia is an action adventure RPG where you reap what you sow…literally! Plant and grow creatures to accompany you on your quest to save the Underworld from a dishonorable monarch and his battalion of monsters. Farmagia’s unique approach to the genre may raise some eyebrows, but successfully creates a fun time with its interweaving gameplay components. Not only does the game’s anime style, challenging quests, and interesting story effortlessly garner attention, but the quality and quantity Farmagia is able to cultivate succeeds in making it a must play hit.
