- Impressive and visually stunning graphics that remain immersive and detailed despite age, with smooth animations and realistic lighting.
- Outstanding gameplay featuring fluid and exhilarating parkour mechanics, satisfying melee combat, and a dynamic day-night cycle that enhances tension and challenge.
- Exceptional atmosphere with a gripping open world, intense sound design, and a haunting synthwave soundtrack that deeply immerses players in the post-apocalyptic setting.
- The game suffers from various technical issues including graphical glitches, inconsistent optimization, stuttering, frame drops, and occasional crashes on some hardware configurations.
- Some gameplay elements feel clunky, repetitive, or inadequately tested, with frustrating parkour mechanics and tedious grinding for resources and experience.
- The story and character development are uneven, with some players finding the narrative predictable, cliché, and populated by forgettable or one-dimensional characters.

The story of Dying Light is generally considered engaging yet not groundbreaking, featuring a solid but somewhat cliché zombie survival narrative with memorable characters like Kyle Crane. While the main plot is straightforward and at times predictable, it effectively supports the immersive atmosphere and gameplay, and the side quests often add depth and personality to the world. However, some players find the story uneven and repetitive, with pacing issues and an unsatisfying ending, but overall, the story sufficiently motivates players through the tense, action-packed parkour and combat experience.
“Dying Light is in my opinion the fundamental best zombie game, from the story (which is actually coherent) to the gameplay it hooks its teeth, I dumped 60+ hours in a week, and that was an awesome time.”
“The story and character development are incredible; it's definitely replayable.”
“The developers created the perfect combination: adrenaline-pumping parkour, incredibly satisfying zombie slaughter, and a genuinely amazing story that keeps you hooked until the very end.”
“The story is laughably bad.”
“The main story itself is also very intense, emotionally charged and well deserving of some award, as it will make you both lean forward in your seat in anticipation, as well as cry like a little girl out of sadness for some of the characters that are killed off during the game's story.”
“The story and characters – bland and forgettable, the main storyline and characters are somewhat clichéd and lack depth.”
Dying Light Platinum Edition Review
Dying Light on Switch is quite a remarkable achievement, and we’re happy to report that Techland has mostly stuck the landing with this one. Its ambitious open world full of zombies is unlike anything else in the Switch’s library and, between the core campaign and six years of constant DLC updates, there’s potentially hundreds of hours of enjoyment to be had here. Granted, all of this comes at the cost of performance that can be middling compared to other platforms, but this is neatly balanced out by the convenience of playing in handheld mode. We’d give Dying Light a strong recommendation, though with the caveat that Switch owners who rarely play in portable mode may want to pause and consider buying it elsewhere. Wherever you may fall, we’d strongly encourage you to consider this Switch port; it really is quite good.

Dying Light is yet another game that, years ago, I would have never believed would be playable on a handheld.
80%Dying Light: Platinum Edition Review --- Stopping yourself in your tracks
Dying Light: Platinum Edition is another impressive Switch port, but the game itself is just OK. Its design threw everything at the wall, often to its detriment. While it has some pretty high highs, they lie almost exclusively in the movement. If you do want to chase those highs you’re better off on other platforms until another patch or two comes along.
