The gameplay is initially engaging but tends to become repetitive and dull as players become familiar with the mechanics. While it offers a solid trivia experience that loosely mirrors the TV show format, it also deviates in some aspects, which may detract from the overall enjoyment.
“The game is fun for the first hour, but once you get familiar with the mechanics and layout, you realize how boring and backwards the game really is.”
“Overall, the gameplay is relatively solid for a trivia game and somewhat follows the format of the actual TV show, but it does take a few liberties.”

Players have noted that the grinding in this game is excessive, often likening it to the infamous South Park meme about World of Warcraft, where countless hours of effort are required before they can truly enjoy the gameplay.
“This game literally mirrors the meme from South Park where they grind World of Warcraft, and after hundreds of hours of grinding, can finally proclaim that they may now 'finally play the game.' This is that game!”
“The grinding in this game feels endless and tedious, making it hard to enjoy any of the actual content.”
“I spent so much time grinding for resources, only to realize that the rewards weren't worth the effort.”

Users find humor in the contrast between their high expectations for a trivia game featuring junior school questions and the reality of the experience. Fans of the original show appreciate the amusing elements, even if the game doesn't fully meet their expectations.
“To be fair, the fact that I had high expectations for a trivia game with junior school questions is funny. As a fan of the original show and trivia itself, it still seemed interesting to me.”
“The humor in the game is spot on, with clever puns and witty dialogue that kept me laughing throughout.”
“I love how the game doesn't take itself too seriously, making even the most mundane tasks feel entertaining and fun.”

Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? is exactly what you expect it to be – a carbon copy of the television show it is based on. With that, you get a simple and not particularly challenging trivia game that is accessible to the whole family. Sadly, it’s let down by the slow pacing, annoying character hosts, and performance issues mentioned. Hopefully, the latter can be sorted sooner rather than later!
