- story99 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
The game's story is generally perceived as underwhelming, with many players noting its abrupt ending and lack of depth. While some appreciate the engaging quests and charming graphics, they criticize the narrative for being simplistic, poorly paced, and riddled with bugs that disrupt immersion. Overall, the story feels incomplete and fails to provide a satisfying conclusion, leaving players wanting more depth and coherence.
“The story is engaging and is not too challenging, includes fighting, magic, quests, and more.”
“I loved what I did play; I experienced very minor glitches, riveting battle, a beautifully crafted soundtrack, secrets across the land, and a decent storyline.”
“You started by just bringing a delivery into town and several quests later you save a prince you didn't even know of, fly to some other islands, and then have to save a world you didn't even know was dying.”
“Also, don't expect much of a story.”
“The ending is very abrupt as well with pretty much no story to wrap up the game.”
“Even though the story is basic to nonexistent - the main problem of 'islands are breaking apart and falling from the sky' is only mentioned very late into the game - playing was fun.”
Windscape Review
Windscape isn’t an antidote to the everlong tropes of modern action-RPGs – simply because it still needs to rely on enough of them to tie its own systems together – but it does present a relaxed and engrossing alternative that’s designed to give players of any age or skill level the chance to explore, battle and craft at their own pace. The deepness of that crafting system belies its apparent simplicity, and with all manner of stories to uncover across its hand-crafted lands, you’re left with a first-person adventure that very much belongs on Switch.

Windscape may look like a decent lo-fi adventure at first, but it doesn’t have much to offer beyond its initial cartoony charm. With sleep-inducing combat and an absolutely skeletal crafting system, it just does nothing to keep your attention.
