About
Vampire Therapist is a single player casual simulation game with horror, fantasy, comedy, historical and others themes. It was developed by Little Bat Games and was released on July 18, 2024. It received positive reviews from critics and very positive reviews from players.
Vampire Therapist is a narrative adventure in the vein (get it) of What We Do in the Shadows, the horror works of Mel Brooks, Monty Python, and Horrible Histories where you play as a reformed bloodsucker helping other vampires find inner peace. This isn't a typical visual novel — Vampire Therapist is a fully-voiced interactive play for mature audiences where you get to drive the action! Take on…

- Exceptional writing and character development with witty, heartfelt dialogue, creating engaging and relatable vampire clients.
- Accurate and educational depiction of cognitive behavioral therapy concepts integrated smoothly into gameplay.
- Top-tier full voice acting and well-crafted art design that enrich the storytelling and player immersion.
- Gameplay mechanics are limited and overly guided, with no real failure state or meaningful choice impact, reducing replay value.
- Technical issues include occasional bugs, glitches with controller input especially on Steam Deck, and some voice line mismatches.
- Some players find the protagonist's cowboy persona and repeated political/social commentary distracting or off-putting.
- story217 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
The story of the game is widely praised for its rich, well-written narrative and compelling characters, blending vampire lore with psychological themes and cognitive behavioral therapy in a unique and heartfelt way. While some find it linear and occasionally repetitive or heavy-handed, most appreciate its emotional depth, humor, and educational value, making it a touching and engaging visual novel experience with standout voice acting and art. However, a few players express frustration over limited player impact on the story and occasional tonal or pacing issues, especially in later acts.
“The story was approached with a real desire to explore humanity, albeit through the lens of immortals with more time than even they can comprehend, and their stories had me both laughing and crying.”
“I got a story that handled emotional whiplash with greater skill than I ever expected possible and discovered a beautiful gem of storytelling.”
“The premise sounds absurd at first, yet it quickly becomes clear that this oddball setup hides a heartfelt story about redemption, compassion, and the healing power of understanding.”
“Gameplay suffers from being repetitive and the story takes a very unpleasant turn in act 3.”
“But I feel that the game itself is very straightforward and you basically have no impact on the story, the clients, basically on nothing.”
“Overall, it’s too stagnant, too much of a traditional visual novel, and I couldn’t bring myself to care enough to see the story through.”
Vampire Therapist Review – Drinking blood is self care
Vampire Therapist is an incredibly fun play; all the characters are vibrant and interesting, the voice acting is outstanding the entire way through and yeah, vampires are hot. Everyone in this game is hot. There was clearly a lot of love and effort put into the therapy aspect of the game, too. Finding a way to add legitimate therapy techniques without making it feel unapproachable must have been hard, but it’s definitely paid off.
85%Vampire Therapist Review (PC)
Vampire Therapist manages to make the rather dry concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy interesting by linking them to interesting characters. I like how the sessions develop and how the game adds new concepts and asks players to find the best ways to use them. The voice acting is good enough to paper over some small issues with the writing. This is not an experience for players who want gameplay depth and variety. I could have done without the feeding or the meditation mechanics. Vampire Therapist tells good stories and has cool character moments but don’t take it as an actual example of how therapy works. Vampire Therapist may be about vampires, but there's something we can all learn from the journey of supernatural therapy.
