We rather liked 2018’s TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge. Its only real problem was that it didn’t have a great deal of content.
"TT Isle of Man - Ride On the Edge 2" is a motorcycle racing game set on the real-life Snaefell Mountain Course, known for its danger and complexity. The game features 17 additional tracks, 18 motorbikes, and official riders, with improved physics and realistic rider movements. An open world environment is available for testing and gaining experience, with options to fine-tune and upgrade motorbikes for optimal performance.

The graphics in the game receive mixed reviews, with many praising their detail and immersive quality, particularly in high-speed scenarios, while others criticize them as outdated or cartoonish compared to previous titles. Some players note that despite the appealing visuals, issues like graphical tearing and subpar crowd animations detract from the overall experience. Overall, while the graphics are generally considered good, they may not meet the expectations set by newer racing games.
“The graphics are top notch and I really can't fault them. The feeling of speed is really well done, with trees zipping past you at 200 mph; it really does 'feel' like it. Likewise, the sounds have been well done with good attention to detail, the Triumph sounds like a Triumph.”
“Gorgeous graphics and impressive track details, not only on the IOMTT track.”
“A fantastic simulation of superbike road racing wrapped up with some delicious audio/visuals which perfectly encapsulates the relentless speed and terror of the Isle of Man TT.”
“In first person, the bike, the dashboard, and the handlebars look like a cartoon (even at max graphic settings). It has worsened brutally compared to the first part of the game, where everything looked pretty good.”
“The graphics look 'washed-out', aren't as smooth as the original game, and the physics?”
“There is hardly any improvement over the previous game, and the graphics and performance are actually worse.”

The gameplay is characterized by a steep learning curve that ultimately leads to a rewarding experience, enhanced by impressive graphics and a thrilling sense of speed. However, players have noted inconsistencies in certain mechanics, such as the scrapping pegs and bike control, which can detract from the overall enjoyment. While the game offers decent track design and immersive elements, issues like a floating mouse pointer and unaddressed gameplay mechanics have left some players frustrated.
“Love this game, had a tough time learning the game mechanics and the tracks, but once you get the hang of it, you feel like a god and the feeling is just amazing.”
“Its steep learning curve leads to rewarding gameplay, enhanced by good graphics and an immersive feel of speed (depends on camera choice), making it ideal for fans of full throttle on bumpy streets.”
“In TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2, the updated graphics are visual candy, and the upgraded physics and gameplay make this game a really fun and challenging title for all die-hard race fans.”
“And having a mouse pointer floating around during gameplay is just inexcusable.”
“Some of the mechanics they lay out don't even work.”
“The mechanics are awful, and the bike will just jump off from under you with no reason at all.”

The game's stability has received mixed reviews, with some players reporting significant glitches, such as random crashes and input lag, particularly on specific courses. Others, however, have experienced smooth performance on mid-range and ultrawide setups, indicating that stability may vary depending on the system. Overall, while some users find the game enjoyable despite its bugs, others express frustration with the frequency and severity of the issues.
“Super fun, runs great on mid-range PC builds.”
“Game runs great on my ultrawide.”
“And if your controller disconnects, the game freezes.”
“Stupid glitches happening - bike randomly crashes at a particular point riding through the highlander in the Snaefell course (as though an invisible obstacle on the roadway), left-hand steering input lagging at times, and every now and then terrain spilling onto the racetrack and glitching on/off.”
“It's buggy; it's not even as good as the first one. It's terrible. This developer needs to be shut down. How they can release this and then ghost the community without replying to their customers is a joke.”

The game's optimization has received mixed feedback, with some players experiencing random stuttering, although it runs smoothly on the Steam Deck. While there are opportunities for performance enhancement through bike upgrades and tuning, many users feel that the graphics and overall performance have not improved compared to the previous version, leading to concerns about the game's optimization in the long run.
“It feels so good when you can make full laps around the TT without crashing, let alone 'win' the senior TT on the same bike you own in real life, or even break Peter Hickman's time... you'll have to play with the gearing and suspension later in the game when the parts are unlocked to squeeze out the performance where you need it.”
“Each new part improves bike performance and allows you to set parameters like suspension settings, engine brake power, gear ratio, or disc brake power.”
“Sign with a manufacturer to get access to their livery, then proceed to unlock perks and part upgrades to enhance the performance of those bikes with each successive race.”
“There is hardly any improvement over the previous game, and the graphics and performance are actually worse.”
“Second time: rolled around free roam for a bit, random stuttering here and there.”
“I'm sure it'll be optimized sooner or later.”

Players find the grinding aspect of the game to be both rewarding and tedious, as it requires significant effort to improve lap times on the IOMTT track. While the game offers a high per-minute gaming experience, its simplistic simulation and frustrating physics can diminish long-term engagement. Despite these challenges, some players remain committed to grinding for better performance.
“After a lot of grinding, I managed to do an entire lap on the IOMTT track without falling in 17:13, but I have very little interest in trying to adapt to this game's wonky physics.”
“It's a fairly bare-bones sim with a somewhat realistic but tedious career, but the per minute gaming experience is very high.”
“I'm still 3 minutes slower than that, but I will keep grinding.”

The monetization aspect of the game is criticized as a "cash grab," with users feeling abandoned by the developers. While the game has appealing visuals and decent physics, the lack of control and feedback during gameplay detracts significantly from the overall experience.
“Cash grab, abandoned by the devs. The game looks great and the physics may be okay, but the lack of control over the rider's position and the lack of feedback makes riding very difficult. There is zero vibration with controllers while braking, and the vibrations that are there seem very disconnected from what the bike is doing.”

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2 Review
For those who enjoyed the original TT Isle of Man, the sequel Ride on the Edge 2 raises the stakes with an improved career mode that delivers a more immersive experience. Sign with a manufacturer to get access to their livery, then proceed to unlock perks and part upgrades to enhance the performance of those bikes with each successive race. Newcomers can easily pick up and learn the ropes while making good progress on the stat sheets thanks to the arcade-like controls that don't make the racing experience too complicated, unlike the more realistic sim racer. However, beyond the career mode, there is a basic online mode to further gain some racing experience. While this isn't the premium two-wheeled racer on consoles, it is a step in the right direction for Kylotonn.

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 2 is still a good game, but some twitchy handling and framerate issues somewhat compromise the Nintendo Switch experience.
50%TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2 Review
While Milestone’s two-wheeled efforts offer a more polished two-wheeled simulation experience, Kylotonn’s latest addition to the genre is still a recommended purchase for hardcore superbike superfans. The overall improvements to the handling model make taking on the legendary Isle of Man TT course a far more rewarding experience than previous attempts, while the improved Career mode makes the build-up to that infamous race far more agreeable to less experienced riders. While it’s still very rough around the edges in terms of presentation, Isle Of Man TT - Ride On The Edge 2 is still a far smoother ride than the original and another decent addition to Switch’s growing motorbike repertoire.
