  • Unique and fun blend of drift-based racing and mid-race combat segments with transformation mechanics.
  • Character roster and designs are faithful to Transformers, each character feeling distinct with unique abilities.
  • Good variety of unlockables, relics and perks provide gameplay depth and replayability, especially on easier difficulties.
  • Limited content with few tracks and characters; slow grind required to unlock full roster and max out characters.
  • Technical issues such as bugs, clipping, rubberband AI, awkward controls, and occasional unfair difficulty spikes.
  • Lacks online multiplayer mode and has inconsistent audio/voice acting quality, diminishing long-term engagement.
  • gameplay
    28 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay offers a unique blend of drifting-based racing and combat through fluid transformations between vehicle and robot modes, providing tactical depth and moments of excitement. However, it is often weighed down by repetitive and shallow mechanics, inconsistent AI behavior, frustrating difficulty spikes, limited track variety, and technical issues that disrupt flow. While some players appreciate the smooth handling and creative ambition, many find the experience undermined by stiff animations, underwhelming audio, and lack of polish.

    • “The concept itself is compelling, offering a fresh spin on both racing and action genres by allowing players to switch between vehicle and robot modes fluidly, each with its own set of gameplay mechanics and strategies.”
    • “The gameplay loop centers around racing in vehicle mode where players must master drifting to accumulate energon, a resource critical for powering boosts or transforming into robot mode for combat.”
    • “This transformation mechanic is the highlight of the experience, as it provides moments of tactical depth by enabling players to unleash unique attacks and defensive maneuvers based on their chosen character.”
    • “While the game's unique blend of racing and combat mechanics garners some praise for its creative ambition, many players and reviewers highlight several shortcomings, including inconsistent AI behavior marked by frustrating rubberbanding, occasional difficulty spikes that feel unbalanced, and technical glitches that interrupt the flow of gameplay.”
    • “All this in a kart racer with only eight tracks with limited polish in the layout (enough odd corners and edges that you can catch on and stop you cold, keeping you from getting into the "flow" of a race), and it ends up feeling shallow and slim, despite the production value and mechanical promise.”
    • “The little fighting arenas, while an interesting idea to let slower racers catch up and mix up the gameplay, ultimately boil down to either having a big enough lead going into them that they don't matter much, or just navigating a complete mess and hoping the autoaim and inconsistent respawns are in your favor.”
  • graphics
    8 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics in Transformers: Galactic Trials feature a colorful, neon-lit, futuristic aesthetic that captures the classic Transformers essence with sleek, clean character designs. While visually appealing and nostalgic for fans, some users find the map visuals lacking polish and overall presentation underwhelming compared to the potential of the engine. The focus seems more on fun gameplay than cutting-edge graphical detail.

    • “Visually, Galactic Trials leans into a colorful, futuristic aesthetic with neon-lit environments and sleek character models that capture the essence of the Transformers universe.”
    • “The weapons, abilities, maps, and especially that classic G1 80s aesthetic are a real treat if you’re a Transformers fan.”
    • “OMG... that's just a prime example of what Unreal Engine 4 can do; you can't rely on blur and post-processing.”
    • “You can't rely on blur and post-processing; that's just a prime example of what UE4 can do, but it doesn't hold up well.”
    • “It ultimately falls short due to underwhelming visuals despite moments of excitement from transformation mechanics.”
    • “The map graphics could use some polish, even though the character designs are classic and clean.”
  • story
    8 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's story is largely criticized for being repetitive, shallow, and quickly becoming irrelevant, with minimal narrative development beyond initial objectives. Many players find the plot unengaging and overshadowed by repetitive gameplay and grinding, leading to a lack of motivation to continue once key milestones are reached. Overall, the story is seen as underdeveloped and overshadowed by uninspired gameplay elements.

    • “The game is alright, it's fun enough but has its problems and after a while it can get boring as once you get the 10 prime relics there's no real reason to play anymore, as the story is just sliding cutscenes. Hate this trend in gaming.”
    • “The game's plot is centered around collecting several special artifacts that were released by Nemesis Prime around the planet of Cybertron, but the plot quickly becomes irrelevant during gameplay because it's never mentioned again.”
    • “No real story.”
  • grinding
    5 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Grinding in the game is widely viewed as tedious, repetitive, and unenjoyable, especially after obtaining key items like prime relics. Players find character XP progression slow and frustrating, with some mechanics like random teleportation and pacing issues adding to the monotony. Overall, the grind detracts from the fun and could benefit from less tedious unlocking processes.

    • “It's not fun, tedious and repetitive.”
    • “I've 100%ed the game just because I love Transformers, but after I got all the prime relics, my fun started to go down and I found the game a bit more boring or annoying as I'm just grinding character XP. I really think maxing all characters should be a trophy. After I got all prime and normal relics, it's kind of a boring grind, especially when someone teleports in front of you to win out of nowhere, forcing you to retry and extending the grind. I wouldn't mind if it was a fun or very active race, but no - it's either you're out in 1st with nobody around, or being killed by everyone as your weaker character and they nuke you to last place. After the first laps, if you're in front, it's boring until the end where you have to see if the game will break by disabling jump pads or teleporting someone right behind you.”
    • “Game feels slow, challenges are grindy, repetitive.”
  • music
    5 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music in the game receives mixed feedback, with some praising the gorgeous tracks and fitting sound design, while others find the soundtrack generic and lacking the excitement expected for high-stakes action. Voice acting is similarly varied, with certain characters' performances highly praised, but key voices like Optimus Prime's falling short of expectations. Overall, the music and sound contribute positively to gameplay flow but may not fully capture the desired intensity.

    • “The music and tracks are all honestly soooooo gorgeous <3”
    • “Pretty maps and good music, playing as a really fast character has a nice flow between combat and racing segments.”
    • “The music and sound is good, with the voice casting rangers from amazing with Megatron, Soundwave, and Shockwave sounding absolutely perfect, then to a good Bumblebee, then a not quite right Wheeljack, to being outright disappointed by an Optimus Prime that just doesn't have that prominent, commanding voice you come to expect, making me wish they would re-cast him.”
    • “The soundtrack consists mostly of generic, looping tracks that fail to capture the energy and excitement typically associated with high-stakes racing or intense robot battles.”
    • “Voice acting and music is so so.”
  • replayability
    3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Replayability is bolstered by the unique blend of racing and combat, as well as features like the leveling system and galactic trials mode, though the lack of an online multiplayer option limits long-term engagement for some players. Adding more bots and multiplayer modes could further enhance replay value.

    • “I do hope there's plans to add more bots. The roster isn't lackluster at all and the leveling system also helps a lot with replayability. I just think it'd be cool is all.”
    • “The mix between racing and combat is quite unique and the galactic trials mode offers a lot of replayability.”
    • “The absence of an online multiplayer component is a significant drawback, especially for a title that could benefit greatly from competitive or cooperative modes to enhance replayability.”
  • stability
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's stability is undermined by frequent technical glitches, such as character slowdowns, clipping through objects, and unbalanced difficulty spikes, alongside inconsistent AI behavior that disrupts gameplay and frustrates players.

    • “I wanted to give this game a chance but it's so riddled with glitches like your character randomly slowing down, glitching through objects, being one-shot despite having a full shield and energy.”
  • atmosphere
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The atmosphere is generally perceived as lacking depth and originality, with environments feeling generic and missing the detailed world-building needed to create a memorable experience.

  • emotional
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Users feel that the lack of audio polish weakens the emotional connection to the characters and diminishes the overall intensity of the gameplay experience.
