About
"Survivalist: Invisible Strain" is an open-world game about building a community after civilization's collapse. Recruit survivors by earning their loyalty or fear, and manage their needs for food, warmth, and safety from dangers. Interact with living characters who have unique personalities, remember your actions, and give quests. This is the sequel to "Survivalist," but no prior knowledge of the first game is needed.

The gameplay of this title is characterized by a mix of challenging mechanics and engaging survival elements, reminiscent of games like "State of Decay" and "Kenshi." Players appreciate the depth of community management, crafting, and dynamic AI interactions, although many note that the combat mechanics can be janky and require a learning curve. While the game shows promise with its unique features and replayability, it is still in early access and has some rough edges that need polishing.
“The game offers dynamic gameplay, countless tasks, and a mysterious storyline, making it an addictive and challenging post-apocalyptic survival game.”
“While the gameplay can be a bit janky, it grows on you.”
“With dynamic AI characters, an in-depth crafting and skill system, and challenging combat mechanics, the game offers a unique experience that will keep you entertained for hours.”
“The characters lack hardly any depth, the memory system seems good on paper but I'm not convinced it works 'right', the overall mechanics can be a total nightmare (e.g., why can't I place a concrete wall on top of what appears to be a plastic bottle on the ground), no matter how good a character is with guns they can't hit anything, etc. Maybe if the game is ever finished all of this and more will change but I have my doubts it will be finished.”
“I hated the carry weight mechanic, went online and found a way to tune the game the way I want it to be.”
“The gameplay reminds me of a hint of Project Zomboid, State of Decay, Kenshi, and a pinch of RimWorld. The game's mechanics are overwhelmingly frustrating and unusual, meaning you spend your time fighting the design itself, and not any actual content.”
