The gameplay experience is marked by a mix of fun and frustration, with players enjoying the core mechanics but facing significant issues such as unresponsive shooting, health bar malfunctions, and optimization problems that lead to choppy performance. While the game has a charming concept and entertaining loop, it suffers from bugs, netcode issues, and a lack of meaningful single-player support, making it challenging for players to fully enjoy. Many reviewers express hope for future improvements, suggesting that with better optimization and new mechanics, the game could evolve into a more enjoyable experience.
“It's a lot of fun, and the gameplay loop is surprisingly entertaining.”
“Everything just clicks with this game: it's got a great balance of charm and novel presentation without sacrificing core gameplay elements and vice versa.”
“Great concept, nice gameplay.”
“I've tried beating this wave several times with a friend, but despite abusing all the mechanics to our fullest extent (maxing out different level-up abilities like more HP or more move speed or more door HP and using the teleporters to juke), we die in just a handful of seconds at best.”
“Netcode issues, buggy interface and interactions, horrible animations with nonsensical delays or timings, poor feel and stats on the weapons, and swiftly repetitive gameplay.”
“I just can't suggest this game in its current state, and the fact that the developers are spending their time releasing new character cosmetics rather than fixing the buggy gameplay just furthers the frustration.”

The graphics of the game are generally well-received, with many praising the cool art style and vibrant colors that enhance the overall aesthetic. While the visuals are not on par with AAA titles, they are deemed suitable for the game's target audience, though some players have reported minor graphical glitches and performance issues. Overall, the artwork and design contribute positively to the game's fun and engaging atmosphere, especially for a child-friendly experience.
“The aesthetic of the game is absolutely awesome, and I am optimistic that with time and further development it could become much more fun.”
“On one hand, I think that the gameplay is pretty fun, the graphics are good, and the idea of a teddy bear wielding a gun to shoot down nightmares is awesome.”
“Everything from the visuals to the sounds is wonderful, although in its current state the game does have a few minor flaws such as no FOV slider and some FPS issues, but all in all the game is definitely worth a buy for either solo play or hanging with friends.”
“There have been a few graphical hiccups, one in which the room glitched out and I was seeing vectors against a black screen over and over until moving elsewhere (seemed to have resolved it).”
“If you experience some issues, try lowering your graphics.”
“Don't expect AAA visual quality; however, the graphics are fine for this type of game.”

The game's stability is a significant concern, with numerous users reporting persistent glitches, frame drops, and netcode issues, particularly affecting the multiplayer experience. While some players find the game enjoyable despite these problems, many express frustration over the developers prioritizing cosmetic updates over essential bug fixes. Overall, the game is seen as a fun but buggy experience, typical of an early access title, with varying reports on the severity of the issues encountered.
“I enjoy this game, so I bought it for a friend; however, the multiplayer portion is nearly unplayable due to glitches.”
“I just can't suggest this game in its current state, and the fact that the developers are spending their time releasing new character cosmetics rather than fixing the buggy gameplay just furthers the frustration.”
“The game is extremely buggy and kept dropping frames for no reason.”

The game's optimization is currently a significant issue, with frequent crashes, frame rate drops, and choppy performance, particularly during intense gameplay scenarios. Players have reported various bugs, including resetting key bindings and issues with weapon purchases, which detract from the overall experience. While the developers are actively working on fixes and improvements, the game remains in a state that may not satisfy most players at this time.
“Optimization could be better, especially when shooting the rocket launcher with tons of enemies around; my FPS drops to about 50 when I usually have 165 FPS.”
“Note: the game does have some bugs, but the devs are pushing out fixes almost daily; optimization is being worked on and frame rates have been capped.”
“Like the gameplay but the game is not optimized; it feels really choppy, like the VSync is trying to force its way through, and there are frame spikes everywhere. Even firing weapons feels weird, almost like when spamming the gun misfires sometimes. Can we please get a FOV slider because the default feels terrible and there's no support for 16:10 resolutions.”
“Optimization could be better, especially if you shoot the rocket launcher with tons of enemies around. My FPS will drop to about 50 when I usually have 165 FPS.”
“I've already encountered bugs like the game not allowing me to buy weapons, and optimization needs work as you'll rapidly lose frames when looking towards large groups of enemies.”

The game's story is described as lacking depth, with players expressing confusion over the absence of a clear campaign or backstory, particularly regarding the character choices and the mandatory "protect the door" mechanic. While some find the premise reminiscent of "Toy Story" meets "Coraline," the overall narrative feels underdeveloped, leading to frustration, especially during challenging gameplay moments. Players are left wanting more lore and context to enhance their experience.
“I get it's a story thing, but as far as I know, there's not really an actual campaign yet.”
“Is there going to be a backstory as to why this is happening?”
“I would rate this as being okay, but it's not an option so I clicked no. It's fun for a bit, but the multiplayer lobbies seem scarce to me. The 'protect the door' mechanic just makes it harder for a solo player like myself. It would be different if you had AI teammates or some helpful installations like turrets, as you could in a normal tower defense. Overall, it's just meh. If the 'protect the door' could be made a one-off mid-mission challenge instead of mandatory, with a difficulty toggle or something, it would feel better. I get that it's a story thing, but as far as I know, there's not really an actual campaign yet, so why have it as a mandatory feature? Also, at the time of writing this, I haven't played the game recently, so this may be outdated. But why can't I be a stuffed bunny? Why does my base character always have to be a bear? Come on, it's called 'Stuffed,' not 'Stuffed Bears: Shadow Paralysis Chronicles.' At least give an in-game lore reason why she only has bears in her stuffed guardian army.”
“Toy story meets Coraline, or something to that effect.”

The in-game music is noted to be repetitive, but the sound effects and soundtrack are generally appreciated, contributing positively to the fun and chill atmosphere of the gameplay.
“Fun and chill wave survival game, love the sound effects and music.”
“More love for the soundtrack and sound effects.”
“The premise is adorable and the gameplay is solid; the music is impressive too, along with the weapon variety.”
“The menu music is strange: some industrial driving riff that, while it sounds pretty cool, it does not fit the tone of the game in the slightest.”
“Edit: I forgot one thing, it's always the same music that plays when you are in the game.”
“Also that main menu song has no right to go that hard.”
