  • The game features an incredible art style and a fantastic soundtrack that enhances the overall experience.
  • Combat is fast-paced and fluid, providing a satisfying gameplay loop that encourages players to keep trying for 'one more run'.
  • At its price point, the game offers great value, making it an accessible option for fans of roguelikes, especially those who enjoy Hades.
  • The game suffers from a lack of variety in enemies and environments, leading to repetitive gameplay after a few runs.
  • Voice acting and dialogue are often criticized for being bland and lacking emotional depth, which detracts from the narrative experience.
  • Despite its fun mechanics, the game feels incomplete, with many players noting that it could benefit from more content and polish.
  • music
    106 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music in the game has received widespread acclaim, with many reviewers praising its high quality and energetic style, often described as a mix of industrial metal and pop influences. The soundtrack, particularly the title song "Reignbreaker" by Djerv, stands out as a highlight, enhancing the overall gameplay experience. However, some players noted a desire for more variety in combat tracks and expressed mixed feelings about the main menu music.

    • “The soundtrack is of outstanding quality.”
    • “The music, a poppy, nordic spin on industrial metal, is terrific.”
    • “The stars of this game are the incredible soundtrack and the super stylish visuals that go with it.”
    • “Decent vibe from the 'base' music but it's still pretty one-note.”
    • “Also, this title has probably the most annoying main menu music I've ever heard.”
    • “Cons: not a lot of combat music tracks.”
  • gameplay
    92 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay has received mixed reviews, with some praising its smooth mechanics, addictive combat, and engaging progression system, while others criticize it for being bland and lacking variety. Many players appreciate the art style and the "one more round" appeal, reminiscent of games like Hades, but some find the combat unsatisfying and the mechanics confusing. Overall, the game offers a blend of enjoyable elements and notable shortcomings, making it a worthwhile experience for fans of the genre, especially at a low price point.

    • “The game oozes with style and really scratches the 'one more round' itch as each run gets more difficult and introduces new enemies and mechanics after each successful raid.”
    • “An excellent game with engaging mechanics and a smooth, fast-paced feel.”
    • “The gameplay loop is addictive, with room to support a fair variety of builds and strong support to help you lean into those; certain upgrades in the progression system help you pick your preferred category of boon.”
    • “The mechanics are confusing, the powers are not fun.”
    • “Less than a mediocre game, solid 4 out of 10. Very bland, no variety in gameplay, just swing your big spear and you can add 2 more power-ups to it that don't impact the combat that much. I got bored of the weapon, hate the design, big and bulky. The combat feels very unsatisfying with a pretty big delay between hits, that'll make you feel slow and it'll also get you hit countless times. The areas are so small and narrow, with the monsters having all kinds of AoE or multiple projectile attacks that sometimes you will miss because of the colorful comic-like environment that doesn't do you any good while trying to fight. Full of traps you can get hurt on. Most of my playthrough I only used my right click because the left feels even worse, using only your fists... it's sad, almost cringe... but you will need to use it so you can cool off your right click.”
    • “Problem is gameplay is not really fun nor does it bring anything new.”
  • graphics
    84 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics of the game have received widespread acclaim for their unique and vibrant art style, blending elements of punk, steampunk, and neo-renaissance aesthetics. Reviewers highlight the stylish visuals, colorful graffiti influences, and comic book-inspired designs, all contributing to an engaging and immersive experience. Overall, the game's graphics are described as top-notch, enhancing both the gameplay and the overall atmosphere.

    • “The world and the UI have this great brightly colored graffiti aesthetic, and the neo-renaissance setting is amazingly unique.”
    • “It's artistically top-notch - I love the riot grrrl-meets-trash polka-meets-steampunk-meets-medieval/ecclesiastical/grimdark aesthetic; it's executed incredibly well.”
    • “Love the art style and the love and care in every corner, music and sound, the color palette, effects, UI... it's juicy as heck.”
    • “As others have pointed out, the overall aesthetic has a ton of potential and I would've loved to see that dialed in.”
    • “And the visuals?”
    • “Whilst I admittedly do like the art style and music, I would have at least preferred a Hades-lite that had as fitting a voice cast -- hiring newbies (who admittedly do their best!) from London does not mean you are going to get the same charm.”
  • story
    50 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story has received mixed reviews, with some players finding it engaging and well-presented, while others criticize it as simplistic and lacking depth, particularly in comparison to titles like Hades. Many reviewers note that the narrative feels generic, especially within the cyberpunk genre, and that it often takes a backseat to the gameplay. Overall, while the combat is praised, the story is seen as an area that could benefit from more development and variety.

    • “The story is also really engaging and I love the characters!”
    • “I had so much fun that even after finishing the story I keep coming back to experiment with different playstyles.”
    • “Story: I like what I've heard so far.”
    • “Let’s start with the story, or the sad excuse for one.”
    • “The story is very simple and not particularly explored.”
    • “There's a lot of work put into this game but... the grating voice acting (constantly playing), the non-existent story, the weak talents... it all just feels really off.”
  • atmosphere
    6 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The atmosphere of the game is generally appreciated, with many praising its coolness and integration with gameplay, narration, and music. However, some players caution that those who prioritize lore and character depth may find it lacking. Overall, while the atmosphere enhances the experience, it may not satisfy everyone.

    • “I absolutely love the gameplay, atmosphere, narration, and music.”
    • “Play this one for the combat, but the atmosphere is cool.”
    • “If the lore, characters, or general atmosphere are deal-breakers for you, you may be disappointed.”
  • character development
    6 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Reviewers praise the character development for its charming designs and engaging narration, which enhance the overall appeal of the game. The combination of tight combat and a variety of weapon abilities further complements the character experience, making it a standout aspect of the gameplay.

    • “Character designs and narration ooze charm.”
    • “The music is also pretty fitting, and character designs have been one of my favorite aspects of the game so far.”
    • “The character designs are truly captivating and add a lot to the overall experience.”
  • humor
    6 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is highlighted by its witty dialogue and amusing character interactions, particularly through a blend of dry wit and chaotic gameplay moments. Players enjoy the comedic elements, such as the absurdity of using spray can items that lead to hilarious, disorienting explosions during battles. Overall, the humor complements the game's visual and musical style, enhancing the overall experience.

    • “Love the artwork, visual style, music, and the funny little bits of dialogue.”
    • “With her Vi-like physique, Caitlyn-esque seriousness and authority, just with dry wit and humor.”
    • “I had two runs where I used the spray can items from these mercenary guys and it was hilarious; fight starts, explosions everywhere for 30 seconds, complete loss of orientation, fight ends. XD”
  • grinding
    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Players express frustration with the grinding aspect of the game, noting that it often feels excessive and yields minimal rewards. While the boss designs are visually appealing, the battles are described as tedious due to the bosses' sponge-like durability.

    • “Seemed like a lot of grinding for very little reward.”
    • “The boss designs look great, but they're incredibly sponge-like creatures with battles that feel a bit on the tedious side.”
  • optimization
    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is praised for its excellent optimization, with users reporting smooth performance and no encountered bugs or issues. The overall experience is enhanced by the impressive art, music, and dialogue.

    • “I love the setting and its performance - the art, the music, and the dialogue!”
    • “I have not encountered any performance issues or bugs.”
  • replayability
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is criticized for its low replayability, being compared unfavorably to Hades and Hades 2 due to a lack of diverse powers, rewards, storyline depth, maps, characters, and skills. Overall, players feel that the game offers significantly less content and variety, diminishing its replay value.

    • “Simply put, it's just a budget rip-off of Hades/Hades 2 but with less powers, less rewards, less storyline, less maps, less characters, less skills, and less replay value.”
  • monetization
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The monetization strategy of the game relies heavily on visually appealing advertisements that attract potential players, although there is little clarity about the game's content or mechanics from these promotions.
