Redout is a great modern revival of a racing genre we had lost somewhere along the way. Die-hard racers who prefer high-speeds and death-defying jumps will for sure want to check this one out.
2560 AD: Humanity moved to Mars and some of Titan’s moons. The most followed and expensive sport is a high-speed racing class employing magnetic hoverships, the fastest humanity has ever engineered: a sport named Red:Out. Red:Out is developed in Unreal 4. Controlling a nuclear-powered ship hovering about two meters from the ground going over 400 km/h is no piece of cake Now, imagine doing the same…

Redout Review – Futuristic Racing Is Back on the PC
If you liked Wipeout or F-Zero, you’re going to be right at home with Redout. Fast, sleek, pretty, and has just about the right amount of challenge. If you can overlook the rubber banding issue and desktop resolution configuration, Redout, is your best bet if you’re in the market for a racing title that you can pass the time with.
80%Redout (Nintendo Switch)
Overall, Redout is an amazing racing game and by far the best anti-gravity one on Nintendo Switch. It offers simplistic but meaningful customization, diverse environments, and RPG-like mechanics that provide replay ability, all without sacrificing performance for the most part. There was only one thing that was a big turn-off for me, and that was it’s online multiplayer. While you can create a server for friends to join up and race with you, there is absolutely no online player base on the servers for those wanting to race against random folks. Despite not having the best multiplayer, even without friends to play this with, the game is still a racing gem.

It’s a pretty good game, but there’s a lingering sense that Redout could’ve been so much more if it were buffed up in a few key areas. The lacklustre online, complete omission of local multiplayer, and the overall shoddy performance hold this one back from being something great, and it’s a real shame. Even so, the stellar art style, catchy soundtrack, and in-depth career mode ensure that it’s a satisfying experience for those who can put up with the difficulty. Redout is certainly worth your time, but only if you would consider yourself a fan of this rather niche sub-genre. If that isn’t you, it may still be worth a punt, but we’d recommend trying out FAST RMX over this one.
