The graphics of Prominence Poker are generally praised for their robustness and superior design compared to other free-to-play poker games on Steam, utilizing Unreal Engine for enhanced visuals. However, players note that the game is optimized for consoles, leading to limited customization options on PC and potential performance issues, such as low FPS.
“Excellent poker game on the most basic level, Prominence Poker is just a multiplayer Texas Hold'em poker game with better graphics, design, and cross-platform capabilities compared to the rest of the free-to-play games currently available on Steam.”
“While the graphics are certainly robust, the options and controls are clearly designed to accommodate consoles, resulting in a lack of advanced PC customizability and options.”

The gameplay of this poker game has been criticized for prioritizing chance over skill, making it less suitable for serious players looking to learn authentic poker strategies. Reviewers suggest that the game feels slow and lacks variety, with a call for additional game modes to enhance the experience. Overall, the current design may appeal more to casual players, but it risks alienating those seeking a more challenging and realistic poker experience.
“I may come back to this game at a later time to check if they have gone through the trouble of changing this, but until that happens, I would not recommend this game, especially if you want to learn the way poker is really played. Believe me, you will end up in Vegas losing a lot because you are not getting flushes every draw. The sad thing is the game should want to draw in serious players who will want to stick around and not casual players who want to fiddle around for a few hands just to uninstall. Even if you do just want to play casually or find the poker to be rather slow and boring, the developers could easily add other game modes (WSOP offers Omaha and GOP offers Royal Poker) if they want to have gameplay based around multiple large hands, which would be an easy fix. But as of right now, it feels like the theory that the slots near the casino entrances put out more in order to bring customers in. It's still a game of skill and chance, but it seems like this game has brought down the bar on the level of skill needed and upped the chance for large hands for everyone in order to win.”

Prominence Poker's free-to-play approach certainly has its benefits. By restricting the flow of money at your disposal it manages to make you feel each triumph and failure a little more keenly, while also keeping those hopelessly erratic players, with a penchant for going all-in, all the time, from over-running the tables. This makes it an enjoyable way to play poker for anyone who doesn't particularly want to risk their bank balance playing for real money, though the lack of a compelling progression system and underwhelming single player scenarios will more than likely stop you from going all-in.
