The gameplay of Motorsport Manager is praised for its depth and strategic options, allowing players to manage various aspects of a racing team, including hiring staff, developing cars, and making tactical decisions during races. While the game offers an engaging loop and a balance between simulation and arcade elements, some players note issues with AI difficulty, repetitive mechanics, and occasional bugs that can disrupt the experience. Overall, it is considered highly addictive and rewarding, especially for fans of motorsport management games, with mod support enhancing the gameplay further.
“One of my favorite features is the living world of drivers, engineers, and mechanics who eventually age and retire; it all adds to the immersion and keeps the game going season after season as you try to hire the right personnel to help you get to the front of the grid.”
“In conclusion, Motorsport Manager is a game that excels in every aspect, offering a depth of gameplay and strategic options that few titles can match.”
“The gameplay is rewarding; the game runs buttery smooth even on low-end systems and seems, at least for me, to be bug-free and very nicely optimized.”
“You can reliably win races with dumb strategies that require no skill or deeper understanding of the game's mechanics.”
“The mechanics advice on setup is useless, there's just one practice session to get the setup sorted completely from scratch, the drivers are useless whatever level they are.”
“There are too many overly simplistic and poorly realized mechanics that pull me out of the game.”

The graphics of the game are generally well-received, with many players appreciating the clean and immersive visuals that enhance the overall experience. While some reviews note that the graphics may not be groundbreaking compared to competitors like F1 Manager, they are considered good enough for a management sim, with options for both 2D and 3D modes to accommodate various PC specifications. Additionally, players have highlighted the potential for graphical improvements through mods, which can enhance the visual experience further.
“The graphics and presentation in Motorsport Manager are top-notch, offering a visually appealing and immersive experience.”
“The graphics are stunning and to be able to sit back and watch the race unfold while running your team is awesome fun.”
“Great graphics, quick easy game layout, intuitive gameplay.”
“In terms of graphics, the tilt shift effect looks neat but it's kinda ruined by the insane amount of aliasing everywhere - not that you're really looking closely at anything other than the UI during races.”
“Graphically it isn't the best in the world; the pit crew don't have animations, the racing cars don't even turn wheels when making corners, and the fans in the audience don't move.”
“My computer runs this game with graphics looking like they came straight out of 2004, but it's the most engaging thing I've played on Steam.”

Overall, the game's optimization is a mixed bag; while many players report smooth performance and no crashes, some experience frame drops and minor bugs, particularly during races. The game can be taxing on lower-end machines, and certain gameplay mechanics, such as car part performance, can feel disconnected from actual race outcomes. Despite these issues, the depth of strategy and customization available in managing a motorsport team is generally well-received, contributing to an engaging experience.
“The game allows you to create and customize your racing machines, providing a genuine sense of control over the performance and appearance of your cars.”
“Its easy to get into, yet still have depths enough for you to really indulge yourself into it, spending loads of time fiddling with your car setup, to have it be fully optimized for the races.”
“You can practice and set your car's performance by adjusting things like gear ratio and downforce.”
“Really taxing on the machine though, wish it was better optimized.”
“The small downsides of this game are mainly odd performance issues - sometimes there are frame drops during a race, most likely when it's processing more AI routines or something along those lines - and a couple of bugs, mainly in UI.”
“The major flaw in the game is that rather than turning performance numbers of the car parts and chassis directly into the respective performance, it uses the performance numbers to rank the cars in the championship then creates performance based off that.”

Overall, the game's replayability is a mixed bag. Many players praise its high replay value due to a variety of tracks, drivers, and the extensive modding community that enhances the experience, while others note limitations stemming from repetitive elements and a lack of diverse gameplay after multiple playthroughs. Despite some criticisms, the potential for infinite replayability through mods and dynamic gameplay elements keeps many players engaged.
“With a vast array of tracks and drivers, no two games are the same, and the replayability is off the charts.”
“The mod community for this game is amazing, making the game infinitely replayable.”
“Rule changes keep the game fresh, and there is plenty of replayability.”
“At its core, the game has an optimal way of playing it, due to which there isn't infinite replay value.”
“The replay value is hindered because no matter which team you start with, there's always the same drivers and engineers available.”
“It is a really nice game, but lacks replayability due to using the same data set of drivers every game.”

The grinding aspect of the game is frequently described as tedious and repetitive, often requiring players to invest significant time to progress, which can lead to frustration. While some find enjoyment in the resource management and strategic elements, many reviewers express that the grind becomes overly drawn out and lacks sufficient variety to keep it engaging over time. Overall, players suggest that the game may appeal to those who enjoy a challenging, time-consuming experience, but it risks becoming monotonous for others.
“You'll need a second life for grinding.”
“A bit grindy sometimes.”
“You'll need a second life for grinding.”
“The tediousness of things in terms of development ultimately led to me getting from F3 to F2 after 4-5 seasons and then just having it hit me like a ton of bricks one night when I just blurted out to myself... 'WTF am I doing?' The game just becomes A-B-C-D but oooh wait, this season's A-B-C-D is in Arial instead of Times New Roman.”
“To progress from one league to the next, you really need to spend multiple seasons winning every race and building your HQ up. It's just overly long and becomes tedious very quickly, as once you figure out how to dial your car in, there isn't enough RNG to really keep things interesting.”
“It's biggest downside is how tedious and drawn out the races are.”

The game's stability is a significant concern among users, with many reporting frequent bugs, crashes, and glitches that can hinder gameplay. While some players find the core experience enjoyable despite these issues, others describe it as "unplayable" due to the frequency of crashes and the presence of frustrating glitches. Overall, the game is seen as entertaining but in need of substantial stability improvements.
“Runs well in Windows 10, bug free, with some nice user mods and player guides available.”
“It's beautifully polished, runs great on low spec systems, looks awesome.”
“Gameplay is rewarding, the game runs buttery smooth even on low-end systems and seems, at least for me, to be bug free and very nicely optimized.”
“Great game, but buggy - needed a few workarounds just to get it not to crash to desktop immediately, and it still randomly crashes once in a while.”
“The game is amazingly entertaining, but it's been buggy since release, and seems to have been abandoned by the developers not much later.”
“I've got the mobile version of this game which I love playing on the move, so I was overjoyed when this version came out. It loads great but after the first race the game freezes and crashes, even on a restart I can't start the 2nd race, which is really annoying. This happens even with the latest patch - what utter rubbish and a waste of money.”

The game's story aspect is largely absent, with many users noting that it lacks a traditional narrative structure. However, players appreciate the emergent storytelling that arises from managing teams and navigating the promotion and relegation system, allowing for unique "zero to hero" experiences. While some find the gameplay engaging and reminiscent of classic simulation games, others express a desire for a more structured story akin to RPGs.
“Add to that the promotion and relegation system which means you can take a team from rock bottom all the way to the top, allowing you to craft near endless storylines where no two will be the same.”
“If you are a motorsport fan and love watching a good underdog story, this game is for you!”
“The storylines that get created from GP to GP are epic.”
“It's like having an RPG game without a story.”
“If you want a story, go read a book.”
“The game is mildly enjoyable after you get past the needless 'click this, click that' missions.”

The music in the game has received mixed reviews, with some praising the soundtrack as a labor of love that enhances the experience, while others find it repetitive and lacking variety. Many users express a desire for more diverse tracks and the ability to play their own music, as the current options can become monotonous, especially during extended gameplay. Overall, while the sound design is generally well-received, improvements in the music selection and integration are highly recommended.
“Special mention to whoever created the soundtrack; you can tell that it was a labor of love.”
“I relaxed for 5 minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.”
“Also, the soundtrack is fantastic.”
“The soundtrack will become boring after a while, and I would like some more options to tweak the user interface.”
“Soundtrack - all cars sound the same (and not in a good way), and a single track playing in the background between races gets annoying fast.”
“We could however wish for more varied music tracks and of course a closer relation with Formula 1.”

Overall, the game balances complex management with comedic elements, making it enjoyable for both seasoned players and newcomers.
“The tracks have great detail and the traits some of the drivers are hilarious.”
“The driver interaction via radio comms in the race itself is immersive and a bit humorous at times, as they comment on their performance and car condition.”
“Good 3D graphics, variable weather conditions, and different strategies every race weekend make this game a very funny and enjoyable experience.”

The game's atmosphere is widely praised for its immersive racing experience, enhanced by well-designed circuits, fluid car movements, and appealing graphics. Players appreciate the realistic sound design and the ability to role-play in a competitive environment, though some note the absence of a lively spectator atmosphere typical of real-life racing. Suggestions for improvement include adding more dynamic elements and better AI to further enrich the overall ambiance.
“The atmosphere is great, and the usage of appropriate mods helps you to feel like you're competing in real-life championships.”
“Overall, the graphics pull you into the race atmosphere.”
“Maybe the only thing missing from that evocation is the carnival atmosphere you hear about from real-life spectators of the sport.”
“It's great to see a car's engine blow, or skid marks on a bend from driver lock-ups - adding a close-up of this happening would add to the atmosphere.”
“Very nice tracks, well-modeled visuals that are clean and bring real atmosphere to the game.”

“I totally don't mind having in-game purchases.”
“The monetization model is fair and doesn't feel intrusive.”
“The game offers optional purchases that enhance the experience without being necessary.”
“The only thing missing here really is microtransactions to further increase the base stat.”
“Driver and staff contracts are okay, but what really lacks is an intriguing system for sponsor and advertising contracts.”
“Why the motorsport industry doesn't throw money at this game is beyond me because it would have been a good advertising opportunity for them.”

Overall, the emotional impact of the game is a significant aspect of its appeal.
“This game puts you in the driver's seat of a Formula One equivalent series, and it's easy to get emotional when you hit your first milestones in this game.”
“Most satisfying second place ever, and a realization that if a game can draw me emotionally into watching virtual drivers go around a track, it must be doing something right.”
“You would think that buying a game all about motor racing while not touching a steering wheel ever would be boring, but I was happier winning my first Grand Prix in this game than in any other game.”

Motorsport Manager for Nintendo Switch Review
Motorsport Manager for Nintendo Switch will chew you up and spit you out, but once you’ve learned the ways of its frighteningly deep systems and overcome its steep learning curve, there’s a brilliant management sim to be found. Even if you’re not particularly a fan of professional racing, the sleek presentation and impressive level of customisation will definitely appeal. The lack of any ‘official’ drivers or teams is one of the few areas the game struggles in, but even without those licences, it’s still another great example of how rewarding some mobile ports can be when handled correctly.
