  • Progress resets at the end of each season, which can be frustrating for players who invest time and effort into building their fleets and bases.
  • The user interface is clunky and not optimized for PC, leading to a frustrating experience for players transitioning from mobile.
  • gameplay
    60 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay of the game is a mixed bag, with some players appreciating its strategic depth and engaging mechanics, while others criticize its complexity, pay-to-win elements, and slow progression. Many find the initial experience frustrating and the need for guild collaboration essential, but once familiar with the mechanics, some enjoy the immersive space exploration aspect. However, the overall sentiment leans towards a need for significant improvements in core gameplay design to enhance long-term enjoyment.

    • “Infinite Lagrange is an engaging space strategy game with unique gameplay and captivating atmosphere.”
    • “The mechanics of the game are very good, the graphics are excellent for a game that started off as a mobile-only game.”
    • “Exceptional game, amazing graphics, cool gameplay, all kinds of blueprints to make a godly armada that can take down a city, it's just incredible, 11/10.”
    • “The final straw is the energy mechanic called action points.”
    • “Unfortunately, there are some huge downsides with the core gameplay, which make it untenable for long-term play.”
    • “Overall, I'd say there are some really promising features to this game, but the core gameplay has been very badly designed, and I'm pretty sure that's why the system is littered with empty cities, where guys have just abandoned their game.”
  • graphics
    40 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics of the game have received widespread acclaim, with many users praising the stunning visuals and detailed designs, especially for a mobile title. Players appreciate the impressive art style and the ability to explore vast space environments, noting that the graphics are on par with older PC games. However, some critiques mention performance issues and occasional visual flaws during crowded combat scenarios. Overall, the graphics are a standout feature that enhances the gaming experience.

    • “The pros are the game graphics, especially for a mobile game, are gorgeous.”
    • “Infinite Lagrange offers me vast space exploration, stunning visuals, and engaging fleet management.”
    • “Exceptional game, amazing graphics, cool gameplay, all kinds of blueprints to make a godly armada that can take down a city, it's just incredible, 11/10.”
    • “For such a simple game, it also hammers the GPU, even at lower graphic settings.”
    • “The graphics are horrible, gross, 3D models comparable to ~20-year-old games.”
    • “At the end of the day though, the visuals do not change the gameplay one iota.”
  • story
    16 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's story has seen improvements, with added lore and quests that enhance the experience, though many players still find the narrative lacking depth and engagement. While some appreciate the visual appeal and the potential for strategic gameplay in an MMO setting, others criticize the monotonous quests and the absence of meaningful content after completing seasonal missions. Overall, the story aspect is viewed as a mixed bag, with some players enjoying the sci-fi elements and space travel, while others feel it remains underdeveloped and uninspiring.

    • “I give it to the devs and creative team, they have added much more story and lore giving what once felt barebones, some much needed meat on those bones!”
    • “I thought the plot was great and a bit wild but I like that there are always new and enhanced ways of traveling the galaxy. I love space travel and believe that someday we will see other planetary systems, but the challenges that will be faced are unknown. I love the ships and how hard it is to get good ones, but at the same time I think it should be more fair. We need more ways to get ship blueprints and other ways to command fleets. Oh yeah, what I would tell a friend to join for is I love how interactive it is; I made some good friends and enjoy the game.”
    • “A well-made and visually appealing game for those interested in large scale battle. It's hard to get friends on at the same time with you without playing the game solo first, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy to feel in control and able to plot or plan. Being an MMO, it can be hard to trust other players, but that's with anything MMO. I would recommend this game to those who love a troops style, sci-fi, MMO, story-based game!”
    • “However, now it's a much different story, with the multiple layered systems they've implemented that only increase the gap between whale and new accounts. This is more than discouraging; in fact, it's becoming apparent the game has an issue keeping new players.”
    • “Events are laughably boring and the story text isn't worth reading.”
    • “Occasionally, there are throwaway quests that give you some resources, but they are so monotonous that they don't add much to the gameplay experience.”
  • monetization
    11 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The monetization model of the game has been widely criticized as exploitative, featuring heavy reliance on microtransactions and a pay-to-win structure that discourages free-to-play users. Many players feel that the game is a cash grab, with a poorly functioning cash shop and a battle pass system that detracts from the overall experience. While some appreciate the game's design, the monetization practices have led to a negative perception, suggesting that it prioritizes profit over player enjoyment.

    • “It runs on battle pass monetization like most games and has servers that last 40 days or so before starting over.”
    • “There is no reason to spend money here. Yes, there are microtransactions, but there are alternatives.”
    • “The idea is a good one, and I like the designs of the ships. Some of the graphics when you zoom into the ships, like the battles or the mining, would make it a nice 4X game or real-time strategy, but it's full of microtransactions and you're punished to play without it. Although it is possible, it is just very, very slow. It's just another Asian game tapping into the world of free-to-play, which they have been doing for the last 10-15 years, slowly destroying the gaming market.”
    • “This game is nothing but a cash grab, heavy pay-to-win. Unless you pay lots of money and find a decent guild, there is no game after a few months of building up your ships and base; it is all taken away. So unless you bought something with real money, you lose it all.”
    • “The developer is mainly here for a cash grab.”
  • grinding
    9 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The grinding aspect of the game is described as very time-consuming and tedious, often requiring significant investment to progress, especially in resource management and local economy interactions. While some players find satisfaction in the grind and appreciate the supportive community, others feel that the repetitive nature and slow advancement can lead to boredom, particularly during the initial phases of gameplay. Overall, those who enjoy grind-heavy experiences may find value, but it may not appeal to everyone.

    • “You'll need a second life for grinding.”
    • “Most of my time is spent messing with my own local economy, and dealing with NPCs, and the randomness of those encounters gets really tedious and boring.”
    • “We spawned in a new system, in a totally different location, and it did seem like it would maybe be more competitive, perhaps in terms of PvP, but the start-up phase is just so tedious... it takes forever, and the only progression arc is the tech files for getting you different kinds of ships.”
  • stability
    5 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's stability is heavily criticized, with users reporting frequent bugs, texture issues, and rendering problems that disrupt gameplay. Many players experience freezing, particularly when attempting to register factions or navigate certain areas, leading to a frustrating experience. Overall, the game's stability issues significantly detract from its enjoyment, making it difficult to recommend.

    • “Every time I register my faction, I travel to the pioneer gate and it either freezes with some weird white/blue circle on screen or just stops at the gate itself and just sits there.”
    • “Absolutely, but the way things are, it's just a miserable buggy mess that the decisions to cater to the largest spenders is slowly sapping away the life of the game.”
    • “Initially it is a good game, but lately you couldn't even enter the game properly; it automatically freezes.”
  • humor
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is often derived from its quirky bugs and glitches, such as odd texture issues and latency problems that lead to amusing visual effects. Additionally, the poorly translated text adds a layer of comedic charm, with players finding humor in the game's awkward phrasing and unexpected moments. Overall, the combination of technical mishaps and translation errors contributes to a lighthearted and entertaining experience.

    • “Like a turtle on a treadmill, Infinite Lagrange takes slow and steady to a new, hilarious level!”
    • “The game is filled with quirky moments that will have you laughing out loud, especially when the characters deliver their lines with unexpected humor.”
    • “The absurdity of some situations in the game is genuinely funny, making even the most mundane tasks entertaining.”
  • optimization
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The Steam version of the game runs smoothly, but there is a significant performance disparity between casual players and those who invest heavily in upgrades, as tech points are tied to specific ships.

    • “The Steam version runs smoothly.”
    • “Considering tech points tied to specific ships are used to upgrade that specific ship, the performance difference between casual players and whales is significant.”
    • “The performance difference between casual players and those who spend heavily is enormous, especially since tech points are tied to specific ships for upgrades.”
    • “Optimization feels unbalanced, as players who invest more money can significantly enhance their ships compared to those who don't.”
    • “The disparity in ship performance based on investment is frustrating, making it hard for casual players to compete.”
  • atmosphere
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Infinite Lagrange is praised for its captivating atmosphere, which enhances the engaging space strategy gameplay, making it a standout experience for players.

    • “Infinite Lagrange is an engaging space strategy game with unique gameplay and a captivating atmosphere.”
