“The new mission system is super awesome and adds so much more.”
“The game has so much more depth now with the missions and NPC farmers.”
“I wish there were more stars I could give this; I have had every version since 2009, and this is a huge step forward. The graphics and sound are brilliant, and the various missions are essential to make money earlier on in the game.”
“No quests and no storyline.”
“There's not really a clear story to this game.”
“This game is still in beta as it does not have a storyline.”

The game's stability has received mixed reviews, with many players reporting significant bugs and glitches that affect gameplay, particularly in multiplayer modes where synchronization issues can cause freezing. While some users have experienced smooth performance with minimal issues, others have noted frequent crashes and the need for constant reinstallation. Overall, the game is seen as fun but plagued by stability problems that detract from the experience.
“At this moment, the base game is almost perfect (no glitches on Windows 10), cheap and family-friendly. In other words, this amazing piece of nostalgia is still a great example of what a farming game should look like.”
“Almost no glitches.”
“The game runs great; I have a constant 60fps, no drops, no stuttering, playing on highest settings on an i7 six-core and GTX 1060 6GB and 32GB DDR4.”
“But even if it's buggy, the game should be looked at once some weird tricks are needed just to boot up the game, like only being able to launch the game when your Wi-Fi is turned off, and that leads to having to restart every time you play because you can't sync to the Steam cloud.”
“Too many glitches and extremely unstable platform.”
“The game is buggy as hell and overall a pain in the ass.”

Overall, the game's optimization has received positive feedback, with many players reporting smooth performance and stable frame rates, even on lower-end systems. Improvements in graphics and engine performance have been noted, alongside a reduction in stuttering and crashes compared to previous versions. However, some users experienced performance issues with specific maps and mods, indicating that optimization can vary based on individual setups.
“Best farming game out there and a much better improvement overall in the UI and general performance. With the proper edition of forestry, logs no longer fly across the map and multiplayer lobbies run at 15 fps.”
“I was really impressed with how well this game runs. I don't have a great computer where I usually run most games around 20 fps, but Giants have done a great job at making the game run smoothly. I can easily hit 40 fps and usually play with medium graphics.”
“A very well optimized game. I had 60 fps and never experienced a single drop, even when I turned the lights on. It is also fun to play with a lot of new features and vehicles. I recommend buying!”
“Like the game but very poor performance on Steam; asked for a refund, but Steam refused.”
“Ridden with the same performance issues, bugs, and general odd behavior out of a supposed 2016 release, FS17 doesn't bring a whole lot of new stuff to the table.”
“The performance increase (especially in multiplayer) came at some cost with sync between players.”

“Hilarious multiplayer, love the physics!”
“I was bouncing my lift like a hoopty with hydraulics and literally laughing my butt off!”
“Painting fields and changing its textures using farm equipment is not funny anymore.”

Farming Simulator 17 Review
There is an attempt to make Farming Simulator 17 entertaining, but it’s a rather poor one. Dull, uninventive, and drier than sandpaper on crackers.

Farm animals, food crops and even get in a bit of forestry. Easy to get into, friendly to play and a nice distraction.

Contrary to common opinion, Farming Simulator's always had the root of a great game buried beneath its Eurojank surface, but now that nugget's really starting to blossom. This edition doesn't reinvent the veal , but it refines what's enjoyable about the originals, and sprinkles some Miracle-Gro on top. It's still an acquired taste, and you're going to need to be patient to get the most out of it, but if you've ever dreamed of being an agricultural extraordinaire, then this is a series now very much in its hay-day.
